I can't understand why people who like beautiful things, and taking pictures of them, would not want to make beautiful things grow in their garden. I can see the appeal of letting your partner take care of it for you though!

It's heftier than the 24-70 f2.8! 15 elements... >£1000... is this a bit overkill for a 50/1.4? I guess we'll see how it performs.

Based on what I have just paid, fungus removal would cost about £50, so the lens is actually £150. The fungus removal would also include cleaning and rebuilding the lens, so you might end up with a better item than if you bought a fungus-free lens.

I've got a Hoya Fusion Antistatic UV filter for my 24-70mm lens. I haven't noticed any image deterioration, but it makes safely cleaning the front element much less of a problem. I've never really bothered with them before, but this lens was pretty expensive and has a big non-recessed front element.

I can see how such a filter on a macro, with a deep recessed front element, would cause problems.

Congrats. Yep, phone cameras are incredible these days, you can see why no one really bothers with digital compacts any more.

I think the issue is that the K1ii does some 'baked-in' noise reduction to RAW files which you *cannot* change in post processing, but I think the issue is being overblown. We're at a stage where the difference in ISO noise between the camera brands seems fairly minuscule, but people still place so much importance in it - as if it was connected to their sense of self-worth or something.

I disagree with comments above about jpeg quality. Sometimes it's nice to have the option of shooting jpegs, and having nice usable images 'straight out of the can'.

How wonderfuly eccentric! My favourite is the shot of the old boy. But the following one is a great capture (maybe crop it so as to lose the guy in the hi-viz?)

Such a shame they put so much effort into weathersealing the camera except for the part most vulnerable to, say, a small puddle of spilt beer.

This high ISO NR thing is the most totally overblown pile of nonsense I've ever seen! However one thing that can be confirmed is that, unsurprisingly, the IQ is not *significantly* different to the K1 in either direction. And the AF performance is only a hair on a gnats crotch better. So not really a compelling case for upgrading.

I've always followed John's advice, trying to avoid a corrupted card.
