I have been somewhat absent.

I have taken many pictures of little Rips over the years , both formal portrait, and candid fun. The one I keep coming back to is this... shot on film with a Super A. by , on Flickr

Bless you all for the lovely words. Digital media gets a lot of bad press these days , but here is an example where I have been uplifted by your kind thoughts.

Love the two mono photos too. Nice work.

Love the 2 mono shots in particular - personally I would prefer to lift the shadows a little more to reveal a little more detail (if that's possible) - but super images anyway  :liked: Thanks ...

Superb. Thank you for your comment, I was amazed it came out that well as it was taken on Flamborugh headland and was quite windy, I was waiting for a puffin to return and noticed it luckerley I was on a fast shutter speed

Maybe check out MPB as a used copy is not expensive, possibly not as costly as some repairs might be. MPB in the UK have a good copy, perhaps MPB USA do as well?

I purchased this lens for my K-3 when it first came out. It was a great lens and I found focusing to be very quick. Unfortunately later in its life the aperture started sticking. I sent it in for repair, after two trips to the repair center it works but now it hunts when focusing. I live in the US and am not enamored with the US repair center. But when it worked it was a great lens.

All the images are straight out of camera JPEG capture. I might make a slight tweak in Levels but not often. The images are all unsharpened, so adding a bit of Unsharp Mask will make them crisper.

Hope that helps!
Thanks, again. I guess my processing skill is not up to that of the K-1, then... Oh well, something to get better at, that's fun anyway...

Hello John, thanks for the review. I have several F-zooms (70-210, 35-105, 28-80, 35-80, 17-28 Fisheye) but never got anything near the sharpness I see in the pictures you show in the review - though viewed at 100% (high res) they look very similar. Results with F primes (50/1.7, 50/1.4) are, on the contrary, always good and crisp, no matter what the magnification. I process my RAW files in DCU5. Do you perhaps use something different?

Having just acquired a 16-85mm for travelling but realizing it’s still too bulky this might be the push to get a 18-135, thanks
