I do like colour popping when it is done right. It is here! Really looks great when you look at the full size version, I imagine it does look brilliant when printed...

This picture is proof that you can take a Ferrari out of Italy but ... oh well you know the rest.

...from a weird, unusual, puzzling perspective.
Following on from the new theme for the fortnightly competition, here is one I prepared earlier (and which therefore does not qualify).
Do you think that would be a good entry?

(I think a few "old hands" here have seen that one before)

And what "earlier preparations" do you have slumbering in the archives?

I couldn't decide on my actual entry or this one, but thought this one may be deemed over the top.
Yeah, that one is pants. Too much Coke in the frame!
I like that shot. I think the perspective already is so much over the top that the over the top post processing seems almost natural. Well done and ... Cheers!

Now Prieni Potter has worked his magic on this image! Another very imaginative interpretation of the theme and I do like the way you have kept the shadow of yourself on the door……which gets me thinking… perhaps this is a real photo? When did you graduate from Hogwarts ?
Of course it is a real photo. Ehm, as real as any digital photo...
My graduation was so long ago, I don't care to remember. It was in the good old time when image manipulation was a truly magic art and not done by blobs of silicon... We didn't think of lenses, just of the size of the hole. In fact it was so dark (ever heard of the dark ages?) that we didn't need a camera, just the hole and film...

Thanks for the judging and congratulations to Tonio (ehm, Tony-O). I like that crop as it leaves only the door without any surroundings. Great shot. I should have used one of these walk-through doors for my shot

Yes it sound interesting. But why don't we wait for the facts?
It's just like in the news: "The minister for X is expected to announce this and that tomorrow".
Well, if I learn about what he/she actually announces tomorrow that is much more valuable to me than todays speculation what it might be... Today I'm content to hear todays news, let's hear tomorrows news tomorrow and keep speculation and facts apart.

Maybe I'm getting old...

At 1/60 s at 50 mm focal length I would ignore the flash symbol. With shake reduction on you could easily go down further.
I have the dynamic range setting on as standard so I usually shoot at ISO 200 anyways. I wouldn't hesitate to up the ISO to 400 under the conditions.
And you were not far off with the focus, judging by the sharp region on his hair I would say it's a bit in front of his eyes. But getting the focus right and a kid as subject don't go together very well, I guess
You definitely got yourself a keeper here, no matter what!

What do you mean by delayed shutter setting. Is this the 2 secs delay, where you press the trigger, the mirror goes up and two seconds later the shutter opens?
This should have no effect on exposure but should be absolutely the same as shooting with the same settings and without delay.
If you mean that you are setting a long exposure then, depending on aperture settings, ISO settings and available light it could be that the selected time is too long and you will get overexposure.
How's about an example shot?

Man oh man, taking the shot perhaps already sealed your destiny. Uploading it for the competition would have been worth the risk, maybe. But to post it now on the internet for everyone in the world to watch it? You are dead meat!

Very entertaining, though. A good shot that does what Galoot asked for, it "jumps out of the screen at you" (with a scream I might add). Good work!

I hope you will live to experience your 100. post, good luck!

Hey Ralf,
That's funny. You used exactly the technique I was thinking of, when I was brooding on my entrie. I decided to go an other direction.

Galoot will have a h*ll of a job on his hands, judging this round.

Martin.
That's funny indeed. I had some different ideas along the same line and the one I ended up with is perhaps not the best technically (for a symmetry one I wouldn't have needed to light the face from the sides) but I left it too late for a re-shoot (had to get the door out of the way first ). It was good fun, though.

Looks like winning this competition could result in a lot of work...

I use PhotoME only for the EXIF info when it's something that Photoshop doesn't show (e.g. if I want to take a look at SR settings, battery state etc.) You have to start PhotoME and then open the image (though it does come with some sort of image browser).

One cool thing is the graphics for the exposure values, see this example:
