No clue what a "readers award" is, but it seems that it's something good. So congratulations from me as well...

For example, the perfect image would be something that is impossible to guess, but is an interesting/imaginative pic.
You're asking the impossible
No, seriously, I guessed that much.

If someone posts a pic of a plain concrete wall at night when its foggy, the chances of winning the comp will miniscule.
...and I guessed that as well... I'll wait until the fog lifts, then...

You should be able to find some in Valpolicella...

Tony,
just for clarification: Is the amount of head scratching on your part proportional to the point score of that entry?
Do I go for the more photographically (or aesthetically) appealing shot that has you guessing for five seconds or for the less appealing shot that leaves you out of your wits till doomsday?

So far I have a few that I find quite appealing but easy to guess. Then there is one not so appealing and a teeny weeny bit harder to guess. If I progress that scale I will enter the shot of the bulb, with the bulb off and without flash taken in the middle of the night. That should keep you guessing but would be visually less pleasing (or at least I hope it would be).

You see the head scratching is happening on both sides of this competition

Another Non-Macro (honestly....., no lies here) is about to enter.
No other give away is provided, though

PS, I am already scratching my head with Belinda's entry.

Martin.
Ok, so it's only my lack of imagination...

I also haven't figured out Belinda's entry, yet.

Very good, Hyram. I just thought I would add a comment along the lines "it will be VERY hard to submit a non-macro shot". Then I see there is something submitted already and it is exactly that!

I have been tinkering over the weekend as well but I'll wait with the submission as I have a few alternative ideas.

The second submission is quite nice as well, Belinda!

I would say it is hoar frost rather than snow. Nice little pikes of hoar frost!
Good shot, Aiki.

The competition theme is quite inspiring, I have worked on some candidates over the weekend and had some good fun. I'll wait with the submission, though, as I have some more ideas that call for trying...

Problem? I thought you are used to self-mortification to repent your sins, Father.

RR, it is not Swarfega (had to look that one up). But you are not that far off, it's some Nivea shower gel. If you turn the bottle round then the bubbles slowly rise.
The colour is not as intense as it seems in the shot, I did add a little pop by making it a bit darker.
