I like the first one too, well it is a fisheye, so how could I not like it ?
At first look, I thought the ship was sinking
It looks a bit higher in this one:

And also the space in front of the yellow circle doesn't seem so vast anymore...

#1 would need a bit more light in the eyes. (Besides: Is this guy a chef or why does he have this hand blender in his lap?:roll
#2 is great as is. I would crop a bit off the bottom and the highlights could be toned down a bit, but I think it could be left as is. I like his expression in this one.
#3 is not sharp but at 1/10 s this can happen. I think the backlight on the right is too strong and her face could be a bit brighter on that side. I like the added space on the left.
#4 almost perfect, a bit more ambient light would have been good. Pose is great, though.
Hope that helps,
Prieni

If you would like the RAW to play with I have no problems posting it for download, be kinda cool to see others variations on a single image - would make a nice processing competitions section on the forum maybe?
Brian.
good idea (I'm getting itchy fingers already...), but I still have some shots from September to process, let alone those of December/January. Then there's the competitions to take care of (took a lot of shots over the weekend and have some more to do) and, I almost forgot, I have a day job to attend to.
Still a tempting offer...

I have some more fishy shots, and I like them a lot. Have to work them up for posting, though.
Here's another one (with the kit lens 18-35), I might have shown before, it's 1/4 s and demonstrates what SR can do:

I like the light on that one.
Here's the funnel of the Maria S. Merian with our institute's logo (taken with the Sigma 105 mm macro)

But I myself have to look who´s talking! I have to ask myself, whether all photos that I loaded up are good anough and over all necessary.
Paul

here we are talking about the fortnightly competition, not the weekly one. This is the "FORTNIGHTLY COMPETITION No 10 COMMENTS." thread, so nothing to do with the weekly competion #86. You don't see any images there because there have been no submissions so far, it only started yesterday.

When does this competition close?
And being the belt 'n braces type I am I just checked and saw a separate thread from His Honour, our judge to that effect.(I hope this secures some extra points in the judgement)

It's all clear as mud, as usual. You always have to think hard what the right balance might be. With the doors competition I think my idea was pretty good, it's just that the picture I made of it was somehow not cutting it.
It's all good fun and the fact that the outcome is hard to predict makes it even more fun.

I agree, that is exactly where the Gallery miserably fails. If I get some comment on one of my pics I'll only find out when I'm flicking through my own pics. I can do THAT more easily locally on my computer.
I can see why they thought it to be a good idea it's just immensely impractical...
