A daft question perhaps, but who on the forum has the most lenses of one focal length in their collection ?
Over the years I have accumulated seven 50mm lenses !

FA50 1.4
F 50 1.7
A 50 1.4
A 50 1.7 (I have two of these)
A 50 2.8 macro.
M 50 1.7

Can anyone beat that for madness ?

Anybody out there in Pentax land ever had a go at photographing star trails ? You know the sort of thing. Set the camera up on a tripod, camera aimed at the north star and take a very long exposure - anywhere between a few minutes to a few hours. There is plenty of good (and sometimes confusing) advice on the web of course, but I was just wondering has anybody here tried it ? There is quite a lot of light pollution where I live, so I wont be able to do it at home. I'm considering using a film camera instead of the K10 as I'm a bit concerned (perhaps unnecessarily ?) about the battery life when taking extremely long exposures.

Any advice or tips from anybody with some first hand experience gratefully received.

Cheers,

Have any of you lucky K-7 owners got any opinions about the lens correction feature of the K-7 ?

"Automatic compensation of distortion and lateral chromatic aberration (available only with DA- and DFA-series lenses)" as its says in the press release.

Does it make a noticeable difference ? On paper it looks like a useful feature, but I have not seen anyone mention it on the forum yet.

Cheers,

I was thinking that the base of the lens would be replaced with an A version. A proper job in other words.

I for one would be very interested if Pentax offered a retofit service for older lenses. I wonder what a reasonable price would be to make it viable. Anyone care to guess ?

Exactly what I have been thinking.

At home we have 2 old desk top machines, two lap tops and a large external hard drive. I manually copy all photo's over to all the machines and external drive. Very low tech and of course if we have a fire everything will be lost. Mind you that's just the same as it has always been with slides and negatives anyway. I used to make back ups to CD and then DVD but gave up doing that a year or so ago.

My Pentax upgrade path (Can't say I have ever really thought about it like that before though).

Super A, SFXn, K10.

Then there are a few others I have used as second bodies over the years too. Program A, P30n and ME Super.

All excellent cameras. The K10 is far and away the best camera I have ever owned, but the Super A is my all time favourite.

Yesterday I had a wander around a number of large electronic outlet shops in and around Barkarby, Stockholm. (Very large shopping centre on the Northwest side of town). Bit depressing from a Pentax man's point of view to be honest. Of the shops visited, NetOnNet, El Giganten, OnOff, Siba, Expert and MediaMarkt only MediaMarkt had any Pentax cameras, K20 and K2000. All the other shops had large stocks of Nikon, Canon and Sony. Three shops stocked Olympus gear. Pentax fared better than Samsung though, I did not find a single Samsung DSLR. As far as I know the K100 and K10 sold well in Sweden and a couple of years back most of the shops had Pentax stock, but now its very hard to find.

I just wondered if people in other countries had noticed the same thing ? Have the big electronic shops also stopped selling Pentax kit in your part of the world ?

Cheers,

Here is another positive review of the lens (of the vivitar labeled version on a Nikon, but the optics are the same).

Hi Buddhy,
That looks like the water tower near to the Princess Royal hospital in Haywards Heath. If you are interested in that sort of thing you might like to know there is another very similar looking one near to High Beeches on the road between Handcross and Balcombe. (I grew up in that part of the world). As a young lad it always intrigued me and I would have loved to have gone inside.

Welcome to the Pentax world by the way.
