G-APDM
Last BOAC Comet service 24.11.1965
Transferred to MEA, (Middle East Airlines) March 1967
Transferred to MSA, (Malaysian Airlines) January 1968
Transferred to Dan Air January 1969.
So the photo is from no later than the Mid 1960's.

Much earlier than 1986.
I know a thing or two about Comets. I can't quite read the last two letters of its registration code, but perhaps you can in your original.
looks like it starts off G-AP..
If you can make out the last two I might be able to help date the image.
I know the fate of most BOAC comets.

DA16-45 (default lens on camera)
DA 55-300.
Then..
A24/2.8
DA35/2.8 macro
A50/1.4
M85/2
A100/2.8 macro
Those particular 5 primes are the ones that get the most use in my collection, which is why they made the cut instead of little used favourites such as the A15/3.5, A20/2.8, M40/2.8, M150/3.5, A300/4 and A400/5.6
As Peter said, very interesting exercise.
Cheers,

This one from last week for example link
Considering it was boxed and came with the case I think £262 was quite a bargain.

I tend to use the M 85/2 wide open and love it to bits. Lovely colours, bokeh and punch.

Check out this panorama taken from the top of the monument.

Might give a clue. I recognise the roof of the building in the foreground.
No idea what the glass tower behind is called though.
(under construction in your photo).
Cheers.
