Samyang Lenses?

Hi there!

I'm suffering a bit from LBA at the moment and surfing the bay for 85mms I stumbled upon a Samyang 85mm at a reasable price. Now, I don't need it (fortunate enough to have a 77 ltd and I primarily wanted to find out what my old 85mm Pentax could be worth) but the Samyang looked fine and further searching showed there's also a fisheye and a 500mm tele. A fisheye could be fun

Anybody know these lenses? I guess they are rebranded "somethings". Focus is manual and that't perfectly fine with me.

Is the the fairly new 85mm f1.4 that's appearing under various names? Of so, it does look tempting at the prices being offered.

I haven't seen a test of it yet - anyone know where there is one?

Yes John, that's the one. Try have a look at the fisheye as well.

Here is one. And here is another. For the money, you can't get wrong with it, I think.

Thanks Martin, very interesting. Seeing I can't afford a Pentax 85mm f1.4, I might well be tempted by this lens as a portrait lens.

At that price it is a no brainer. The next viable alternative in line would be this. But that is a whole different ball game. Price and quality wise. Still.....cheaper as the Pentax equivalents (MF and AF)

I also am really tempted by this lens, it comes under a few brand names including Vivitar.

I assumed you got all the free Pentax gear you could eat!

Didn't knew that brand, they also made some Vivitar's
Vivitar 85mm f/1.4 Asphereical IF is made by Samyang so is probable the same lens.







Actual all current vivitar lenses are Samyang lenses.
They have a 500mm f/8 mirror lens
800mm f/8 mirror lens
650-1300mm f/8-16

Don't know if the vivitar branded ones are cheaper then Samyang?
Samyang made before that lenses under the name Polar:
800mm f8 Reflex
85mm f1.4 Aspherical IF
So most likely that 85mm is also the same so good luck hunting down which one is cheaper.

The Vivitar seems the only one without A contacts.
They other two have them (so more convenient) but....It isn't always advertised by the seller. So you better check it out, before buying.
Either way....for the money it seems incredible value. 199 GBP for you in the UK.

The seem to change specs faster as a normal human being changes underwear.

I am really considering one of these. Looks like a fun lens to use.
