Its an excellent converter. I've used one combined with an A400 f/5.6 for taking shots of the moon. All the genuine Pentax converters are excellent.

Pentax seem to be going through a phase of reusing old names, so it might not be unreasonable to expect a new camera with a LX badge one day. But I can say with almost 100% certainty it would be the sort of camera I have been dreaming about in my original post.

I'm sure not too many of the laws of physics need to be bent to create such a camera. However the laws of economics mean it will never happen. Just as well, as I'd have to take out a second mortgage to pay for it.

It is nice to dream sometimes though.

I once had an identical strap ! Ah those were days....they don't make them like that anymore.

Reading through various posts on the forum the subject of the "Digital LX, MX, ME, Super A" get touched on from time to time, so I thought I'd start a discussion about it. I have always loved Pentax cameras from this era and would dearly love to have a digital camera that looks and feels just like one of the old classics.

For my part I could happily part with auto focus and shake reduction. I never had them in the past of course. Then I would not need all the clever programming modes either. In the old days I mainly used manual and aperture priority. The mount would have to be non crippled of course. As for the sensor for this camera I'll like to have full frame.

I would imagine a camera with a specification like that would appeal to a very small niche market and so cost a fortune. It will never happen of course, but that's my dream anyway.

Anyone else want one ?

Cheers,

/Ian.

My work horses for many years was my Super A and A50 1.7. Then a SFXn and F50 1.7. Now the K10D and kit 18-55 get the most use. Got lots of other equipment, but as most of my photography these days is "family snaps" you can't really go wrong with combination.

I've made a couple of purchases of second hand gear from them before. Very good service and reasonable prices.

Highly recommended

My three year old son's Fisher Price kiddies camera has a more conservative colour scheme than most of those available in Japan. I asked him which he liked best. Bright red was the answer, so thats where I'll place my vote.

Hi Nic,

How did you know I was an aviation buff ?? Got shelfs full of books on the all aspects of the subject, but as it happens not that one.

Thanks for the tip, I've just ordered it from Amazon.

Cheers,

Hi Clarky,

That really muddies the waters. Its seems to be a "missing link" in the evolution of the 15mm design, which perhaps in itself might make it valuable to somebody. Who knows ? At the very least it might be and idea dropping an email to Bojidar Dimitrov and tell him of your find for his website. It's the best Pentax K mount reference on the web and I am sure he will be interested in your lens.

Regards,

/Ian
