Love the first two. The leading lines of the first and the drop as a point of centering interest work well together. In the second, the out of focus flowers add a nice balance/background to the one that is your main subject - in a way that having them all in focus could not do.

Well done!

Had a chance to go hunting for these Pink Lady's-Slippers again this afternoon, and managed to do it with mosquitos drawing blood.

This time, found them on the edge of a cluster of fern (ferns?). C&C on these images, and for those that saw yesterday's post, comparisons?

Taken with M 100 4, the first probably at f 4, second probably around f 8ish.

(Sensor-cleaning time, I guess.)

Thank you!

Yep, this is fantastic - crisp focus, with a background that sets of the skin just right.

Great, Chris!

Angle of view, coloring, and especially the reflected head - well done!

Almost back to the parking lot on a local trail, when I spotted a few of these Pink Lady Slippers. I acquired more mosquito bites than photos! Perhaps this weekend I will go back, armed with long pants and plenty of DEET.

In the meantime, your comments and suggestions welcome, so I have more creative ideas for attempt number 2.

These were both taken with the M 50 1.4, handheld, pretty much wide open.

Hey Ken,

Sounds like a fascinating project you did around CB; the festivals would provide another fascinating opportunity for photographing some real characters, I bet.

I've requested the Margaree book at our local library.

Yes, please let me know when the others are up!

Cheers!

Gartmore,

Where in Cape Breton is your derelict church? I'm originally from CB, and love hitting the dirt roads when I'm home with time to do it! Great image - I bet there are others in the series?

Cheers!

Love the colors and choice of DoF in the first - the planter/vase gives a lovely tone to the whole.

Looking forward to your post-exam photos!

BTW, did your shots from your big trip make it into a bit of a photo essay? I don't remember seeing more than a few photos here.

Cheers,

Matt, can you (or others) please describe how you have achieved your best results with Silkypix's NR?

Thanks!

Another vote for portrait, because of the striking line from tree to mountain.
