Trying to get my system colour-managed, and feel like I'm making some good progress, even as I wrestle with the logic of it all! And Don has been very helpful, as a fellow Mac-user, via PM. However, still a couple questions.

First, my system:

iMac (all-in-one) with Tiger; Silkypix 3.0; PSE 6 (just installed - not using much yet); hueyPro.

Planning to do my printing at a local pro lab, and not at home. The lab has sent me their ICC profile.

Ok, my questions:

1. Where do I put the ICC profile (in Silkypix, PSE6, or the sytem?) and how?

2. Are there different ICC profiles for PC and Mac?

3. The lab sent me a test image (hard copy and email), which I would use to eyeball my screen calibration. Should I just ignore that altogether, and use the huey for my monitor and their ICC for output? If I shouldn't ignore it, how do I coordinate it with the aforementioned?

Grateful for your assistance!

Great job all, especially our winner! Great feedback, Martin - very helpful for those of us on the sidelines this time, too.

Hi Richard,

Another welcome to this online community. I've been using a K100D Super for four months, and have found this to be a great place to keep stimulated and learn and learn and learn ...

Cheers!

The colors and repeating patterns in the second, and its sense of anticipation, make it a really interesting image!

Very cool! Can you say something about the set-up and what you used for lenses, etc?

1 & 2 Are superb, but methinks number 3 is a bit of digital trickery combining the others.

Am I right?
Hmm! The plot of this already-interesting story thickens!

Fantastic! Very creative!

Together, what a story!

The first two are, as McBrian says, the better images; in the context of them, the third works, but perhaps on its own isn't as distinct. (Having them embrace, as you have done, is obviously more passionate, but having them holding hands but slightly apart, would allow the 'his' 'her' distinctiveness be more apparent - IF there's room in the doorway.

And, is it possible to darken the shadows without loosing all the lovely detail in the tiles?

Would love to hear how your inspiration for this series came about!

Welcome to the forum! A nice image, that does indeed make me want to pet your kitten - good job getting down so low for that angle of view. The dark background sets it off well, and you've chosen a good DoF. Would like to see a larger version.

Thanks to Gully for a thorough job of judging, and congrats to Martin for a striking image!

Thanks a lot for the responses. I'll toy with contrast and the mono conversion some more; I didn't want things to look flat (esp the guy's overcoat), but ended up with darker shadows. Perhaps when I start to figure out PSE6 for the conversion ...

Its just begging to have a couple of speech bubbles added.

My rendition would go like this.Woman: Hey look what i found next to that grave stone, It looks like someones finger.

Man: Get that thing away from me woman
Cheers, Clarky!

Here's another shot from a couple moments later. The focus wasn't as crisp, otherwise I'd like it just as much. (Although maybe at this size the lack of focus isn't as noticeable : Here the whole story is in the woman's eyes.
