Which is why we keep away from politics and religion on this site.

There's enough to argue abaout when we stick to photography, so back to photography please guys before we stray too far.

Thank you.
Surely this is simple freedom of speech?

You've got an interesting eye and style.

Bland critique, but I just like them all.

What lens?

Hi all,

thanks for the warm welcome here.
I actually haven't bought the K-r yet because I read on the intenet that the K-r may just have a major issue on its shutter mirror (ie. it keeps on doing the shutter thing whenever we press any button on the camera).

Can anybody here tell me or at least calm me down?? I am worried coz I need to save some bucks to get my first DSLR here

Thanks a lot guys... Cheers!
No sign of the K-30 there? It's the replacement.

Thank you all for your comments. Majority seem to favour rear button, but I also like the 'one button' argument from John R.

On balance though I think I'll keep on with the rear button, but add AF-C, which I hadn't considered.

Now, just need to get them to re-run the Olympic torch past my house...

Olympic torch passed my road yesterday, and I found that in the hustle/bustle/crowds my grab shots suffered from me not having time to focus properly using the rear AF button, compounded by the fact that I was also trying to frame the shots using a zoom lens - 50-135.

So, those of you that find yourselves in fast moving situations, which AF method do you use, please? Rear or shutter button?

The clue's in the fact that it's recently been dismantled, or at least 'serviced'. I'd send it straight back asap, i.e. to-day!

In the guy's own words '..they assumed I was 'lasering' the pilots during the display..'.

A laser would look like a small torch, not a camera, so what was he carrying?

More to this than meets the eye.

Some of the replies can come across as a bit short and intolerant and, having been on the receiving end of an admin e-mail early on, I can sympathise. They aren't exactly friendly and presumably standard replies which don't always work.

That said, it would be a shame to leave after one poor experience. The vast majority of members on here are friendly, knowledgeable and always willing to put themselves out. I have learnt so much that it's worth putting up with the odd negative experience.

When I researched macro lenses I found that the intended subject went a long way towards helping me decide what focal length lens to go for.

A 100mm or thereabouts gives you good working distance for insects, etc.

A 35 or 50 is good for static objects like jewellery, etc.

Don't forget that the lens isn't restricted to macro though; it'll perform perfectly well for non-macro photography.
