Friend of mine did this.

Worked for a courier company.

Ticket paid for by the courier company and 'all' he had to do was convey whatever from a-to-b.

He had many a trip to far flung places and just needed to pay any additional accommodation costs over and above those met by his company.

Used to make money on top by buying/selling his duty free allowance to bar owners - (normally Whisky).

Thanks all for your continued input.

What's coming over for me is that there is clearly a more 'horses for courses' argument as to which mode to use and to decide in advance.

What prompted this was being caught out when an Olympic torch bearer got off a bus right in front of me and I was suddenly scrambling for a shot.

I knew the torch relay would be coming past my road, and when, and had assumed I would be 'tracking' the relay approaching towards me so could shoot at a pre-chosen point, but suddenly there was the bus, the door opened, and out she stepped!

Would have been a great shot if in focus

It's just a category thing - the 645D is regarded as medium format. Full Frame is a term that relates to the 24x36mm 135 format. There is a precedent, as there have been half frame cameras in the past - 18x24mm format.
Thanks John. Guess I'm in a 'bigger is better regardless what it's called' camp.

In any event, one of the big issues with technological advances is that older technology gets left behind, or shown to be wanting.

If/when Pentax produce a digital FF (presumably in 35mm terms) surely all the wonderful lenses they did or currently produce will not be up to it, by which I mean, AF function, resolution, etc, will simply act as a 'throttle' on the new cameras performance?

Have you actually confirmed a problem?

I doubt that trying it would make any issue worse, but would at least confirm there is or isn't one.

In some ways I hope the next flagship Pentax DSLR is only a K20 -> K-7 Jump. As I'm won't be in a position to buy a couple this year.

If it's a similar jump as we had from the k-7 to k-5 I shall be immensely envious.
I'm still with my K20D, so really looking forward to whatever comes next. I decided against the K-7 as I'd bought the K20D at the 'end of life' price, was put off by the early issues surrounding the K-5, then decided having left it so long I'd wait for the K-?.

If the K-30 is anything to go by then the K-? should surely be a big step forward if only to differentiate it from the K-30.

There's a post to this effect over on the other Forum.

Only one person saying it, in the context of what he's been told when trying to unsuccessfully buy a K-5 in Japan, but...

What is it you want in the new lens? What's lacking with the 18-55 and 50-200?

If it's the long end, you could buy a Pentax 55-300 and sell the 50-200.
