Hello and a Request For Help Please!
I was in exactly your position about 18 months ago, wandered into the local LCE store and was handed a Nikon. My only knowledge of brands was from many years ago and Nikon was a brand I really fancied but couldn't afford. So, with one finally in my hand I felt quite underwhelmed; it felt cheap and p...

Hello and a Request For Help Please!
Hi ..as far as the Pentax being noisy I get many a complement On my Pentax having a quite shutter The flagship DSLRs (K-*) all have a nice quiet shutters by comparison to the K-** consumer models which could wake the dead. The K-50's shutter is loud. I had one after the K-7, the difference was e...

Introduction from Phil
Yes I do .... But 22 years seems like a lifetime ago. I'd love to go back, not the least for the photographic opportunities, but life has moved onwards so far, that it is only a dream now. The K7 packs a great punch, and offers an extraordinary amount of technology and image capture aids for the ...

instruction manuals for older Pentax lenses
Hi, I'm relatively new to using cameras with interchangeable lenses. I bought a Pentax K50 at the end of last summer and have been delighted with it just using the two kit lenses (18-55 and 50-200mm). I've just bought my 1st prime lens for it (a 50mm f/1.8) and so far I think it's great. I've made ...

instruction manuals for older Pentax lenses
I was about to mention 'butkus' but you beat me to it. As to hoods for old glass, most older Pentax lenses have a 49mm filter ring on the front which will accept all of the Takumar style hoods. I keep one for 135mm to 200mm lenses handy as it won't vignette any lens over 35mm focal length if you a...

So Disappointed
The differences you can see between your small bridge camera and the DSLR are mainly to do with exposure and software processing differences. The sensor in the FMZ38 is very small compared to that in your K50, and so the potential image quality is far less than that from the Pentax. I say 'potent...

So Disappointed
I'm sorry to say that neither of those issues are due to the camera. DSLRs tend to underexpose to protect highlights, the idea being that you shoot in RAW and fix later in-camera or on a computer, but exposure compensation is often required when shooting to brighten images up. Cameras which meter ...

The JPEG file is just an image file, nothing to do with EXIF. It sounds like the program the image is being prepared in isn't saving the orientation properly. There's no issue with images prepared in Photoshop, so Elements and Lightroom should also be fine. EXIF is all to do with jpegs! The exif da...

Yes, that camera menu option could be the key ..... Presumably that EXIF field is read by the Website software to change the display orientation. I always leave the 'save orientation' option on. I presume it generates the orientation data based on the LCD orientation at the time of capture, and t...

70-210 Large aperture zoom sought for K3ii
There's a chance you may be able to get a DA* 50-135mm lens for as low as £350. If you're looking to stick with the K-3 (and not move to FF) then there really is no better option than that. The 70-200 lenses are a bit too long when used on crop sensor cameras.

New to pentax cameras
I think you'll find a recurring theme here ...... We've chosen, or stuck with, Pentax because of the ergonomics, build strength, intuitive controls, good value camera bodies with more features at each price point than the competition.... Plus as you already said, the amazing possibilities for choice ...

Oh, not him again!
Yes, I’m back. Again. Probably for a bit longer, this time. Depends. Let me explain. It’s a longish story, so pour yourself a drink and get comfortable... A few months ago, due to a strange combination of events (boredom, the internet, a bet with myself and the smallest possible lottery win), I e...

Hello all
In the interests of being friendly and welcoming, please leave the post, and the next ones can be from your new Pentax camera! We could indeed start with the budget and there are some great offers out there at the moment. First, crop sensor or full frame?

Is the new Pentax HD FA 50mm 1.4 WR significantly better than my old SMC Pentax-A 50mm 1.7?
Hello-- Have just found and joined this "PentaxUser" site, although I have used Pentax cameras and lenses for several decades. Moved up into Pentax with an MX back around 1984(?). I'm not a professional, but have published a few images and done weddings, along with a huge collection of B&W and Koda...

Hello from a backslid Pentax user
Welcome aboard - you've got some catching up to do on the tale of Pentax evolution ;) But you have Pentax lenses that are compatible with any of the current Digital bodies - should you choose to accept that mission! The MZ-D was never released (the sensor wasn't up to the task??) and there ...

Hello from a backslid Pentax user
Welcome back into the fold, even when you have been seduced by the dark side(s) the lure of the K-mount draws you back in. I am also a Nikon user but I get more joy from my K1 (mark 1). The FA limiteds have just been updated, and of course there are some magnificent primes available used and n...

"Cannot Display Image" - pls help
Can't say what your problem is but the camera looks to be suffering badly from dust on the sensor suggesting the camera has been left without a lens or body cap in situ. It would seem to require a good overhaul. I wouldn't think it is a memory card fault, more likely the shutter getting stuck ha...
