K5 fault

I recently purchased a Pentax K5 slr and have been using it with 16-45,10-17 and 55-300mm lenses. There is a fault that I did not notice unless there was alot of sky in the shot. There is a reverse C shape in the upper left quarter of the frame clearly visible on the photo I put on the gallery of a ...

K5 fault

From that image it doesn't look like the dreaded sensor stain, although it's difficult to be certain at that resolution, can you post a crop of the affected area so we can see it at 100% PS: welcome to the forum.

K5 fault

Looks like a small fibre on the sensor. You can use a rocket blower (some people don't like to) or some pads to clean it up.

K5 fault

Too late, I fear. Never, ever, touch the mirror or the screen; they are very delicate and can be damaged by even the lightest touch. Neither of them can have any effect on the final image because they are in a different light path. Even quite noticable marks on lenses will have little effect. It ...

Finnish Pentaxian says "Hi"

Welcome to the site!!.. Last time I was in Helsingfors was in 1988, as a courier, when I worked for TNT. I stayed at the Rantasiipi Hotel (I hope I spelt it right!) at Vantaa airport, and took the airport bus from the hotel to downtown Helsinki. The architecture and cleanliness was amazing! I see...

K7 f setting in manual - makes no difference

What lenses are you having difficulty with? and what overall set-up are you using? Could it be an issue with the aperture control of the lens? I think Manual mode on the K7 enables you to set the aperture and shutter speed that you want, but the aperture will only physically be changed when exposing...

K7 f setting in manual - makes no difference

As Matt has written, only 'A' Series lenses and newer can have their aperture set by the body. Lenses older than 'A' series ('M', 'K') need to have the aperture set on the lens and use stopped down metering for correct exposures. I suggest you first clean the electrical contacts on your camera an...

Introducing myself

Hi there! Finally, after several years of being a Pentax (ab)user, I decided to register as one. Have been using a K100D, K20D and now since april last year a K5. besides that I'm an analog medium format shooter (Bronica gear). Cannot afford the 645D yet (and the sensor is too darn small imho, ...

HELP

No it won't alter in size, it's still a 28-90mm lens no matter what camera you use it on. What will happen is that you will get a different field of view if using it on a crop DSLR rather than full frame because of the smaller sensor size.

Hello from Orkney

Hello, I just bought a Pentax K5, after having sold a Pentax 67II and kit this summer. This is my first digital SLR (I know, I know!). Have had it three days, and it's been pissing it down or snowing since I bought it. Can't wait to get out and about and try it. Was surprised to learn that my ...

Hello from Orkney

Welcome to the forum! I think the answer is that the 16-50mm is the focal length of the lens, no matter what the sensor size is but the angle of view that appears on the sensor is different. This means that a lens to show the same view as a 50mm on a 35mm film camera on your K5 would be a 33mm le...

Thinking of a K-30

Hi Jamie, I'm in a similar position, owning an E-510, an E-1, 14-54, 50-150 and various other oly lenses. I've not used an E-3 though. I've just bought the K-30 and the 18-55 WR lens. I'd been thinking of moving away from Olympus for a while because I'm not convinced that there is a futu...

Hi new member from Argyll

Hi Ronnie , i have purchased a K-5 and one of main reasons was for its weather resistance which helps in the west as you will know , i just sold my 5d mk11 which was a brilliant camera but i found it a bit big and heavy for lugging around , main lens i used was a EF200 2.8 L prime with a 1.4 extende...

Hello all (+query)

Have you tried cleaning the contact pins on the camera and/or lenses, Nick? It sounds (from your description) possible that something is "bridging" between the pins, causing it to misbehave.

Hello all (+query)

I've wiped them with a dry cloth yes and they look pretty clean. I wasn't sure if there was a more thorough way to clean them as I'm obviously a little nervous of employing any kind of fluid. How would you recommend cleaning them?

Hello all (+query)

In the past I've applied one drop of WD40 to a dry cloth but I stopped doing that because others on here thought it a bad idea. If you are using manual lenses, they have no contacts anyway, so cleaning isn't going to help. If the problem turns out to be a faulty contact, it'll be because it's pro...

Hi from Boston

Hi from Boston Just joined and I am awaiting delivery of a used K-7 and a couple of lenses. Used to shoot with Nikon SLRs and DSLRs but sold of the kit as I found it was getting to heavy to carry around. Played around with various 4/3 micro 4/3 and other mirrorless cameras but haven't taken to...

You could think of the K-5 IIs as ideal for landscapes. Add an MX-1 or the Ricoh GR, depending on whether you need a zoom lens or an APS-C sensor.

Thanks John, Thanks Martyn... John, K5IIs looks good to me too, and I was debating whether to just have a K5II for the other stuff or of course the Xe1 and a K5 II, that little Mx-1 looks lovely I have to say... Martyn, unless your doing limited Depth of field stuff, thinking F1.4 lenses here, I...
