Has anyone noticed that Tokina lenses are no longer available for Pentax cameras?

When I had my "Super A" and my "Program A", I had some great Tokina lenses, sadly nothing is now available for a Pentax mount!

Why is this, and why are we being pushed into the "background", are we being made to feel that Pentax is an inferior product.

What are your views.

Hi Dilek.

First of all the USB- mini usb cables, are standard and easily replaced.
Secondly, why are you using a USB cable to transfer images.
I presume you are transfering images from camera to PC?

Far better to get an HDSC card reader, and insert your HCSD card into the reader, and enter you reader into a USB port on your PC.
That way you don't need a USB cable, and the reader can be kept in a safe place(like your camera bag)
My card reader is a CADENA +, which I purchaseed from the 7 DAY SHOP, they are inexpensive, (VAT free because their warehouse is in the Channel Islands)

I never used the setup CD because windows will auto detect the reader as a removable drive!

Hope this helps you,

Kindest regards,

Peter.

P.S. E-mail me if you're stuck.

Hello John,
I am using a 16GB SDHC from DANE ELEC,these can be purchased from the
7 DAY SHOP, and as my desk top PC is running on DANE ELEC DDR 2 ram, I can commend these cards to any one wishing to purchase a good reliable HC card.

I shoot in JPEG & RAW, as our Sony Bravia TV only displays JPEG images, and this card gives me 418 shots!

Kindest regards,

Peter

I've the DA*16-50 and DA*50-135 so that range is covered but the DA18-135 looks like a fun traveling lens but the price is too high i think and the cheaper DA17-70 gives you better IQ and still have a very useful range.

Isn't that an option?
I agree the price is too high for me, although one never knows, perhaps if the lottery comes up with my numbers then I would buy the DA 18-135!

IWM Duxford has one as a static display with cutaway sections!

The cost of maintaining one would be very expensive, and also the operating expenses would be quite prohibitive Barrie.

But we never know perhaps one day............................

I started with a Program A, then bought a P30, which was in as new condition, then swapped it for a Super A, so I now had both the Program A and the Super A.

These I later traded in for an MZ7, which was a mistake that I bitterly regret,
as the shutter on the MZ7 packed up after only approx' 18 rolls of film!
It now resides in a cupboard, as it's an uneconomical repair job.

I then bought my K20D, along with a DA 18-55mm II, and the DA 55-300mm lenses.
I would love to own the new DA 18-135mm, as it's the ideal holiday/travel lens, but it's out of my pocket.

I do think that Pentax should cater for those photographers that want a longer focal length than 300mm, and we should not have to look to lenses like the "Bigma"

As I have mentioned in one of my replies, National Heritage, who control the Whitby abbey site, open it for admission at 10am and I believe(don't quote me), last admission is at 5.30pm.

The point of my topic is, as these times prevent early dawn,or sunset shots, of this most iconic ruin, has anyone else found restrictive opening times prevent them obtaining desired shots using natural ligting?

Bump! No interest?
Perhaps it's because these cameras are known for shutter faliure, like mine.

My MZ7 is mint(never dropped banged ill treated in any way, and absolutely no damage whatsoever),but with only approx 40 rolls being through it, only to let me down at a time/location when it was needed.

As the repair costs far outweighs the value of the camera, and it now resides at the top of a wardrobe, maybe just maybe this explains the lack of interest?

One wonders after all this time of yes there will be, no there will not be a Pentax GPS unit, when finally one appears fom Pentax, it's compatibility with earlier Pentax DSLR cameras is so limited!

Why one asks is this unit not backwards compatible with K10D models onwards?

Of course the price is prohibitive( I for one can't afford one, even if it was compatible with my K20D).

Kindest regards,

Peter.
