I'm using my K20D, and I'm happy with it.

With modern technology changing so fast that's it obsolete as soon as you get it home, is it really such an issue?

If your camera does what you want, and performs reliably, why worry be happy!

Only those with unlimited funds, and people like Bill G---s can afford to keep up to date with technology, and do we really want to change our cameras every four weeks?

May I take this opportunity to wish one and all a very happy Christmas & a happy New Year.

My Christmas wishes inc: Peace in this troubled world of ours,an end to famine, better treatment and health care for the elderly,an end to violence, racial intolerance, religious persecution, poverty, and debt.

If you can think of more wishes, then let's hope they all come true.

kindest regards,

Peter.

I've just spent the last month watching dog owners not clean up after their hounds.

The resulting £80 fixed penalty has been greeted with torrents of abuse.

If you have a dog you need to be responsible for it.

Cats on the other hand, foul in my garden under the bushes. We don't have neat flower beds so the resulting visits aren't too much of a problem.

I grew up with dogs, have a cat and can see the advantages of both, especially at 3.30 in the morning when the cat feels hungry!

Merry Xmas Tony, enjoy the break.
Oh have you never had cat crap left on your paths then?
i'ts the male cats that never bother to cover their mess up unlike the female cats which crap under your bushes!

Most dog owners are responsible and clear up after their animals unlike a great many cat owners who rely on the cat flap, or turn their cats out to crap in everyone elses gardens!

I have not tried the 7 Day Shop ones but over the years I have had a few cheap replacement batteries bought on eBay and they have all worked about as well as the official Pentax one. It is possible that they do not retain their charge as well or have a shorter working life but I have not noticed any difference in normal use.
Hi Archie,

Thanks for the information.

The 7 Day shop is worth a look as there is no postage charge, and being located in the channel islands, there is no Vat!

I think it's a matter of to like or not to like a cat.

I don't like cats, they tend to crap and urinate in other peoples gardens, which is both unsightly and smells foul.

Also they kill birds!

Because they are a "Low maitainence animal", most owners tend to let them out and only bother to feed them when the animal decides to come inside.
And let's not forget they don't need a walk.

That said I would never harm a cat, But I would not have one in my house, and I chase out any I see entering my gardens.

ref the above.

Having just received my "replacement" battery from The 7 Day Shop, I've charged it and fitted into my K20D.
Costing just £5.99,(inc postage) it seems a snip!

I am left wondering if any members have used these batteries in their cameras, and what the charged life is, and what they generally feel about these "cheap replacement batteries" from The 7 Day Shop?

Hi, I'm off up to Northumbria on the 5-7th January 2012 to do some photography around Holy Island , Bamburgh Castle etc and I know it's going to be bloody freezing. I need to invest in some thermals and was wondering if you guys have an opinion on which brand are the best to keep me warm.
I've used a Titan jacket & saloppetes for winter cod fishing afloat, so these will be warm enough for you, add a pair of Ski Tex Moon boots, and you'll be as warm as toast,
Kindest regards,

Peter

MZ range is prone to shutter faliure(I have an MZ7 with this problem)

If you want to use a non digital Pentax, then I would go for the Super A.

I deeply regret trading in my Program A & my Super A, for the MZ7.

If you're eyesight is good, you will find the Super A(manual focus), a great camera with a fast shutter speed, depth of field preview, shutter priority, and apperture priority,it's first class.

I would stay away from MZ cameras!

kindest regards,

Peter.

I have used SRS and found them to be very good.

If I may suggest a phone call to Chris personally, you may well find all this can be resolved

Kindest regards,

Peter.

Thought I would try here before heading fleebay. I'm after a strap to replace the kit one that came with my K-r. I like throwing the camera over my shoulder but I find the supplied strap is pretty short for that. A sling style strap would be ideal, or at least one that is longer than the paltry kit one.

Thanks

SRS have the Op/tech neoprene quick release strap.

I find it very comfortable both from the shoulder or around the neck, and as it's got quick release clips it's easy to remove for tripod use!

Talk with SRS and get the colour you like the best(red is not unlike a Pentax strap).

Hope this of use,

Peter.
