Hehe. I have a queue of people wanting a ride in it. I think they'll all be disappointed though. My plan is to take it somewhere and photograph the hell out of it with some nice backdrops. Haven't worked out where yet.
I love the filthy sky in #1 - mean and moody just like the car looks!

I'd suggest somewhere in the New Forest or around Burton Bradstock for your excursion - plenty of A & B roads to throw it around and some decent scenery to be had for a backdrop.

Number 4 is a cracker - almost a "stand-off" between man and bird... well done!

If you hover over the word "link" at the bottom of screen it should give you the intended website address.

I don't see anything in this link that's likely to overload an internet connection?
John, the destination does not indicate if it's a few lines of text, 3 minutes of video or a 40MP image - some indication would be helpful.

You are right of course, in this instance there isn't anything that will eat up too much data, but there are numerous times when "click" or "link" has lead to a large chunk of data being eaten up for what turned out to be click-bait.

I don't think it's unreasonable for people who have the time to post the links to take a couple of extra seconds to indicate what we are to expect.

Can I ask - why don't people put a brief idea of what it is they are inviting others to click on?

Just putting "link" in the body of the message tells us nothing and anyone on a data-plan needs to be wary that the site the link leads to might be sending them something that could end up using a large chunk of their allowance.

I went to a meeting at my local club. The speaker had cried off (didn't matter to me as I didn't know there was one booked) and the chairman had hastily pulled together a selection of his images for people to critique/question - at least it meant something was going on.

What put me off ever going again (it was my first visit to ANY club) was the attitude of one individual who kept trying to drive the point home that "this is not a club to teach you to learn how to use your camera*". Now, said once I can accept, but repeatedly even after I'd acknowledged the point was getting a bit silly. Then, during the session, the same person was sat a good 25ft from the image in the lightbox and kept doing the movie-director thing of making a frame with thumbs and forefingers. From that far back on an A3 image was just ridiculous.

I could have withstood all of that in any other situation, but when all the others at the meeting seemed to hang on to every word the person said, I knew it was not for me.

*I hadn't asked for any help, nor did I want any. It was a blanket assumption which could not have been any wider of the mark!

Carl has hit upon one of the points I was going to make in one word: "subjective". People often post images asking "does this "work?"" - but what criteria are they asking for it to be measured against? Clearly it works in the main for the photographer as they've taken the shot in the first place. Does it meet all of the supposed rules - thirds, odd numbers, triangles etc? maybe, maybe not, but then unless you are working to a specific brief or theme it does not have to if you are happy with it.

Levels of critique are all very well and in the main welcomed by all - but there have been a number of comments lately about this or that image being the best seen here in a long time (what it says about every other image posted is more relevant than the praise of the work in question) or how a shot is "clichéd" - I don't think these types of comment are particularly helpful especially if someone is new to the art or the forum. We all had to start somewhere...

Sounds about right - there isn't much of a margin between contacts making or not, when I start to lose registration for brief periods I know a total stop is imminent, so the screwdriver gets an outing

Just an update....

Finally got my hands on the correct screwdriver, just took out the screws in the mount, gave the mount a jiggle, re=seated it and tightened the screws back up and it worked a treat!!!
Typical Sigma issue - there are a couple of threads somewhere about this. I have the same problem with the 170-500, I just keep a small screwdriver in the kitbag in case I problems whilst out and about.

Not done a cold boot(!?) - sounds scary! - yup and tried it with my router off, don't think there's a conflict with the IP address - I sent the flucard back to SRS but they think it's not faulty and the camera will connect through it to my laptop so...when I get it back I'll try again. Thanks to all that tried to help with this.
The bit about the laptop helps

It might be that Android is blocking the use, which is often the case if you didn't get the program via the play store. If you have a look in the phone settings for Security then tick the "Unknown Sources" box that "may" cure it. If you've got another browser on the handset I'd give that a go, too. No, the Four Horsemen won't appear before you and the world will not end; you can always un-tick the box afterwards

I don't have a flucard but I do have an SIII and can confirm they can be a bit fussy with networks. Have you tried a cold boot of the phone (whip the battery out without powering down)?

One thought that occurs - if you have another network that uses the same ip-range programmed (and uses 1.1 as the router address) it might be causing confusion. Can you change the address of the flucard to something else, like 192.168.1.11 and see if that works?

Edit: a quick way to check for a potential clash is to turn your router off and then try the SIII/Flucard setup...
