Since SRS stopped hiring out Pentax kit, I've found Amazon to be an excellent replacement. Try with Amazon, buy with SRS. Ahem....

I had cause to dig the K5 out today to attempt an SDM-screw drive conversion and remembered this thread.

It's got to have been in excess of 2 years since the body saw daylight and had been stored battery-less in that time at room temperature. Upon powering up, the date had reset to 01/01/2010. I used a DC power supply whilst working through the conversion and disconnected it when done. A few hours afterwards, the calendar and clock are still showing today's date.
I've only lost the date settings on my long neglected *ist DS - the K5iis still hold the settings even with little use.

That DC power supply is a great little accessory to have, I've used it for sensor cleans and for a very heavy macro set-up a few years ago!
It certainly is.

It's also something that hasn't changed - from the K5 to my K1 ii and KP - same DC fitting. Probably fits other models....

FWIW I've got the 170-500, it's a superb lens if you set aside the usual weight issues. Sadly it hasn't seen much action in recent years but hopefully it will again.

Just to let you know, we've passed on the link to this topic to our contact at MPB, hopefully they can look into your situation and either help or provide some more clarity.
As nice as this is, it shouldn't be necessary - the retailer has obligations and it's their responsibility to prove misuse. One would have to work hard to get a pin to come out without any other signs of damage.

I've spent in excess of £5k on camera equipment in the past year, none with MPB. On reading this tale, I won't consider buying from them in the future.

Good luck with this, Reso.

Two recent acquisitions; a Sigma 70mm f/2.8 EX Macro and a Sigma EM140 DG PTTL ring flash.

Early playing suggests this could be a fantastic pairing, will be trying them out properly at the weekend.

I think some clarity is called for, the mention of "OEM" may be causing some confusion.

Does the box contain a Pentax branded battery or an aftermarket compatible?

That should cover it

That should, of course, read K1 Mk ii.

Bit late with this.

My latest photo-related acquisitions are:

K1 Mk iii + Grip
Epson V600 Slide/Negative scanner.

The camera got a good work-out in Germany & Prague during October, the scanner is still in its box, pending a re-fit of my office in a couple of weeks to give me more room - around a thousand slides to scan and I don't know how many negatives. Definitely a winter project,
