I read in the K10D instructions about ordering prints using the DPOF settings--- it seems as I understand you can mark the ones to print on the card, take the card to a lab and it will only print those ones -- well, I asked several places here in Brentwood and nobody knew anything about DPOF - said they had not heard of it and their machines wouldn't use it -- does anyone on this site ever use it ?

I got the Metz 45 CL3 from Germany direct through a camera club member who is German as it is not imported into UK - I didn't think I needed the extra small flash tube - I also got a Metz Pentax box thing from David Leung of Goodmayes and it connects with the Pentax LX and the K10D and does not blow up the digital ! I use it TTL with the LX but with a 'A' settings on the K10D and gives very good results. ( Only wish the PENTAX 's would synchronise at 1.250th sec as does my wife's Nikon FE2 body )

Did you go into the Custom Menu and scroll down to find 'Aperture Permitted or not' : Put it to 'Aperture Permitted' : when I put my manual focus lenses on and the shake reduction lever is 'ON' then the purple thing comes up with the focal length in it and you can change it to what you want.

The Royal Anglian Regiment exercised their 'Freedom of the Borough' when they marched through Brentwood High Street to be greeted by the Mayor at the Town Hall- here are just three shots I took for the local newspapers. The WWII Veteran Saluting is a Brentwood 'Character' 'Boysey' Porter ( I am the OTHER Brentwood Character!)

I had some experience of 'Aerial photography' about 30 years ago when I was the retained Freelance for the 'Brentwood Argus' newspaper-- a job came in---- would I go up with the AA in their 'Navajo' aircraft with the reporter girl and some Policemen ---- so off we went to Stapleford Tawney airfield, found the yellow aircraft in AA colours and up we went -----well, we got the the A127 road where I was supposed to be photographing traffic flows out of an open window ( They strapped me in OK ) and one of the Policemen was sick in the girls reporter's lap, which made ME sick and the pilot was NOT very amused ! I'm not very good at small aircraft OR with the movement on rubbery Hovercraft as I went to Calais, France with the same girl reporter on another occasion and was sick as she was eating a sticky French cake ! ( The newspaper went BROKE in 1980 so no more 'Press Jaunts')

I have had trouble with the famous '1970's onward foam' - it was found to be faulty in that after 30 years it all deteriates, all cameras with that foam have trouble, not just Pentax. Also, I have several Paterson Contact printing frames with that foam- it has all gone rotten, also in a Canon lens case, the same thing- all bits came off stuck onto the lens, and my Multiblitz flash outfit case where you cut out the shapes for the flash heads----all rottted away to a sticky goo. My wife's Nikon FE2 mirror foam all gone too.

Here are five shots taken last night in Brentwood High Street area of the Chinese New Year- the first time they have done it. There was a procession from the Town Hall to the Baytree Centre and the Beckett Chapel Ruins where there were dancers and a fire event. The lanterns were on display, made by local schoolchildren who got a voucher for free Chinese food in the shopping precinct-no voucher, NO GRUB so press snappers were unlucky ( BUT I noticed the POLICE were tucking in ! )
K10D with 18-55mm+ Metz 45CL3 and for the lantern pics my 50mm Pentax-m at f1.4, available light.

If you think a lab will set up their machine to 'push' ONE film from 200 to 400 ASA you have another think coming ! If it's a 'High street' lab the staff would probably not know how to access the interior of the machine any way, and would not know what 'pushing' a film means ! I do most of my own C41 developing so it is easy if I want to give a bit more development from 3 minutes 15 seconds to 3 mins.45 seconds to push a film, I just leave it in the developing tank and watch the clock go round for a few more seconds!
