Clearly none of you have met George yet!

seriously though, I have been a regular member on a number of forums in my time, and this is probably the friendliest of the lot. Certain characters have managed to try our collective patience over the years but generally you have to try pretty hard to annoy us.

the bloke on the right has something of a "now what am I supposed to do" look on his face. Poor chaps.

you can't make a conventional 50mm f/1.0 prime in Pentax K, but you may be able to be clever.

An f/1.0 50mm just has to have an entrance pupil 50mm across, the size of the rear element only scales relative to this if you are just taking the same design and scaling up. My 300mm F2.8 has an entrance pupil diameter in excess of 100mm.

I don't know, I'm not a lens designer, but it seems to me that enough R&D ought to be able to sort out the light path to make a 50mm f/1.0 possible.

for simple video making, I use a piece of software called ImageJ. It doesn't have much in the way of flashy options, but if you want to just load a bunch of images taken at high speed with the K20D and spit out an AVI or GIF then it'll do that in seconds.

looking good.

This feature, while it doesn't seem likely to be the reason I WANT to buy a K-7, may well be the reason I am ALLOWED to buy a K-7/8/9 in a few years time when babys start comming along.....

I've read plenty of contradictory views regarding the image quality. Some say the Sigma's bokeh is horribly distracting, others tend to think it has the edge on the Tamron. All three seem to have their fans - making it difficult to choose!
Sharpness and CA are one thing, but I would never put too much weight behind what someone else says about bokeh. It's too subjective, and while there are some lenses which are generally agreed to be good, and some generally thought to be bad, there's really no substitute for looking at some pictures taken with it and deciding for yourself.

lol at the comments "it's not showing off, it's part of his style!!"

yes, cartwheeling towards your opponent and getting smacked in the head, I can see how that would be an effective fighting style....

good idea, I always used to carry my digital compact around with me and take snapshots if I saw a photo I wanted to take. That way I could come back later with the "big guns" and at a sensible time for the light.
