Yes, all Pentax lenses and most 3rd party lenses with a K mount will fit on the K100d and all other Pentax (D)SLR cameras from the mid 70's to the present.

Deppending on the exact lens and camera combination, some features may not work. Only features supported by BOTH the camera and the lens will work, for example a manual focus lens will still be manual focus even on an AF body.

The most annoying lack of functionallity with a lens designed for the ME Super on a DSLR will be the metering. All DSLRs produced to date lack the ability to read the position of the lens aperture ring, so unless the lens has an A setting you have to shoot in stop down metering mode. The proceedure is detailed in the manual.

hope this helps

Can you not simply use P instead of Green? Green is there for the event where you want to hand the camera to someone who has no clue so they can take your photo in front of the statue of liberty. It's there to restrict the oportunities for a newbie to mess a shot up by setting the wrong settings.

Those of us who are more experianced (and I include you in this catagory since you have used a film SLR extensively) just want the camera to get out of the way of the art and do what we tell it to. The K10, K20 and presumably the new K7 are very good at this as long as you keep them out of green mode.

Good spot chaps, but I don't think this really belongs in the classifieds section. It's supposed to be for member to member sales really.

with a K10 or K20 (and presumably the new K7) there is little noticeable difference unless you are really going for it with the long sequences. 9 RAW frames is generally enough to keep the card from ever getting in your way. The biggest issue is when you want to review the shot you just took in order to assess whether to re-take it or not, this will be much quicker with a fast card.

With the later *ist series and K100/200 the buffer is much smaller and you may notice the difference more quickly, although the *istDL is rather limited in what it can make use of it does benefit from faster than standard cards.

Saying that, I run my cameras with Sandisk Extreme III cards almost exclusively simply because the price difference when I last bought cards was negligable. In fact at one point 7dayshop were charging less for ExtremeIIIs than for Ultra2s! Also I do trip off the occasional long sequence and it's nice to know all my cards are up to the task when needed.

What type of Camera are you?

Pentax As the enthusiastic Pentaxian you have the soul of the true photographer. A strong believer in your brand but always living in the shadow of you big brothers, doomed to wander in their footsteps taking pictures that have already been taken. Still you love your gear and probably wouldn't swap brands until well after they went out of production.

K-7 is small, robust, has a big bright viewfinder and a video mode as well as amazing resolution and from the looks of things seriously low noise. It just might be Pentax's ticket back to their traditional place at the top of the astro-photography tree but only if you can turn off the DFS.

Can you turn off the dark frame subtraction for long exposures?

My Dad has a 50-135 for work and it lost its SDM recently too, had to be sent in to be repaired (under warrenty as this one was from SRS). Similar age to yours as well, I hope this isn't a general fault with the 50-135.
