They make good compacts.
I still have a RDC5000 somewhere, really good camera in it's day.

Will I be able to post pics on her taken with my old Ricoh XR-X, which I admit to usually picking up in preference to my P50?
.....and a fine camera the XR-X is too.

Can I ask another silly question. I have one of these, and there is a 'CLAMP' switch on it. I've tried moving it but it doesn't seem to do anything. What's it for?
It's to lock the lens at the desired focused position i.e. so the focus does not shift.

They've made some good cameras over the years, I always did like the XR-7 but unfortunately never had the chance to own one. The RDC5000 was a very good compact digital in it's day.

I'd concur with what Matt wrote here, but add that the Tamron does have an aperture ring if that's your choice of lens, manual focus will lack damping though and the focus ring is at the front of the lens, a little cumbersome IMHO. The build quality/ergonomics of the early K,M & A series lenses is far better.

Don't know about the sigma, but the tamron does suffer from purple fringing in high contrast situations.
I'm not sure that would be the case with film, it may be an issue with the digital sensor more than the lens.

The older zooms often seem to go cheap. I know I found an M 35-70mm (absolute cracker of a lens, fast, sharp, only minus is the weight of the thing)
I still have mine for the MX, great lens, combined with the M 24-35/3.5 and Pentax-A 70-210mm f4 it covers 90% of the needs on my film kit and all take 58mm filters.
