If your names Ricoh and you make cameras and people advise others not to put any old Ricoh lenses on it because they get stuck what would you do? At the very least the screw drive will have to go, which will cause even more confusion. Simplest solution is a new mount the same way Canon, Minolta and Olympus did.
Way too expensive, why will the screw drive have to go?

Why would anyome want to adjust any buying purely due to a company being taken over? I do not understand.
If Canon took them over I'd jump ship to Nikon.

They could use a different mount on the next DSLR
Not going to happen, they even used a derivative of the K mount originally.

The best lense for your buck is IMHO the Tamron 70-300 di Macro, you can get one of these for a great price of 70 to 100 pounds in very good condition.
+1 Best £65 I ever spent. Cliff-P gets some great results with his too.

I think there is a fair bit of difference between those two from what I have read. The Canon is a very good lens whereas the one from Nikon is one of their worst.
The Canon is probably the best in it's class if you can live with the trombone "Dust Pump" zoom action, unless you can shell out £5000 on the Nikon AF-S VR Zoom-Nikkor 200-400mm f/4G IF-ED

Oh yipeee .. slow AF and nothing over a 300mm f4.

I'm hoping Ricoh gives the Pentax brand a good kick up the backside with some decent money invested in both research/development and marketing.
+1

I can't help but compare it with the FF compatible 50mm AF-S 1.4 Nikon that goes for less than 300...
Yeah, but that's a plastic fantastic lens.
