Interesting article I've seen this morning. Will it lead to good or bad things for us Pentax fans

wow, this could change things a bit couldn't it. I was unaware that Hoya was primarily interested in medical technology. I wonder if it will be a change for the better- they will almost certainly re-evaluate the current product line-up and future development. Could take a while to come through though. The Ricoh GXR demonstrates that they like to think a bit left field. I wonder what the K3 will look like?

I'm glad Hoya have sold Pentax, they seemed a bit rudderless and not really interested in DSLR cameras and lenses.

It remains to be seen what Ricoh's plans are? Having dropped their own line of film SLR's years ago have they any interest in DSLR's? It only mentions consumer cameras not professional cameras?

Will the production lines be stopped whilst Ricoh review the business?

It sounds like a positive step for Pentax, I would assume they'll still use the Pentax name on SLR's? I wonder where the Q system will fit into their plans?

Yes the GXR is about the closest thing any other manufacturer has to the Q. Both products are fairly oddball - doubt they could support both!

They've made some good cameras over the years, I always did like the XR-7 but unfortunately never had the chance to own one. The RDC5000 was a very good compact digital in it's day.
