The competition is in the usual place, but here's a thread for discussion.

Soft focus is something that I personally have to work at a bit, because my instinct is to produce sharp, crisp images. But, in the right hands, soft focus shots can be really effective, so I'm hopeful that we'll see a few this week!

There's still nothing to touch the glass pentaprism finder though, good though some EVFs may be. I'd be disappointed if Pentax moved away from what they are doing now, which isn't the cheapest thing to do but IMHO it is still the best.

Having said that, some EVFs are very good indeed and they have different advantages and disadvantages. It depends what the photographer likes.

The way forward with this is to make a report (see bottom of page for link) addressed to IT and they will reply as soon as they can.

I feel the problem here is that the image is being assessed is the wrong sort of image for that purpose. Even at f/10, only one plane of focus is the sharpest and althjough we should have plenty of depth of field, it depends on where we have focused and how far the various components in the image are from the camera. So many variables and we can't judge it, never having been stood in that spot.

I would suggest get a broadsheet newspaper, pin it up on a flat surface and take an image at each aperture. Make sure the camera is central to the subject, that the newspaper fills the screen and that the camera back is absolutely parallel to it. The camera must be on a firm tripod for this. Then you can judge where the sharpness lies by examining the fine print.

An example of sucj a lens: https://www.ephotozine.com/article/canon-ts-e-90mm-f-2-8l-macro-review-31858

The image samples should give the general idea.

It's a great exercise to stimulate us to look at the world more closely. There was a time when many of us only had one 50mm lens, and it does mean that we need to work harder. You've done a great job!

I did do some experiments on filters and their effects on resolution, CA and flare:

It was interesting and could be repeated by anyone with their own filters.

A really good set, nicely observed and spot on with the processing.
