Welcome back Nigel, glad you dropped in again and with such a great selection of images as well!

It's a testament as well that it's not necessary to upgrade continuously and your K7 delivers the goods for you without the need to spend any new money. All good stuff. Hope you stay around now you've found us again!

Just magnificent, and the sense of isolation has a scary beauty to it.

£42.99, should be free shipping for forum members, and in stock. Not that much more than the £35 you were wanting to pay?

Apart from careful exposure, if we want a background to be black then the Levels dialog box in Photoshop has three buttons for setting black, grey and white points. Select a point on the image, press the black point and the job is done.

The 50x40cm backing boards that camera clubs use for competitions are very useful as black backgrounds. The image I use of stamps to illustrate the closest possible focusing distance in lens reviews uses such a board. The stamps are stuck onto the board to make a handy, re-usable target.

Larger format lenses didn't need such high resolution figures because they didn't need as much enlargement from the bigger format. Nobody designs stuff in excess of what's needed. Smaller formats need higher resolution.

That doesn't stop 67 and 645 lenses being useful though, usually on full frame. Whether or not APS-C is starting to be a step too far I'm not sure.

It is possible, but I suspect the adapters will be both rare and expensive. Also, the resolution of the 67 lenses may be a bit on the low side to get the best out of an APS-C format.

I'm not able to comment on that Mike as I've never tried the D500.

But I do think we're talking here about precision rather than ability to track. Two different styles, two different requirements.
