I see what you mean about the angles, I did get on my knees for a few. My trouble with the direction of the sun is where we were stood. It was at Banham Zoo and behind us was stand for spectators. And unfortunately the sun was coming up directly ahead of this so getting 90 degrees was all I could manage. Because I thought the trees and water as a background not a brick wall. so it was a comprimise.

was there for 3 hours and took around 200 photo's, the hardest was selecting those that might be a little different from the norm. But looking at your pics I have some very simular especially the harris hawk leaving the glove

Just had a thought, when viewing negatives whether colour or black and white there is always a light source behind the image. As womble asked about a light source in the lid, if you do not have one would placing a mirror or tin foil over the negative and using the scanners light source have the same effect?

I do not have any negatives to try this out myself so can't say for sure if its feasible

the best way to learn photoshop is just to play to see what happens, if there is something specific you want to do there are free tutorials all over the place. also if you have an android there is a free app which gives you the basics of learning what photoshop can do, just search photoshop in the play shop.
