Llangollen Station

Had a quick trip down the road this afternoon, here's a few shots. I was trying out a polarising filter that I got off eBay, I'm not entirely sure it isn't affecting clarity on 1:1 of the images before I resize them for the web.

With locations like this it's always difficult to get decent photos without people in the way, unfortunately there's not much to be done about it. I don't feel that I want to be editing them out, even if I could figure out how to work Photoshop to do it properly.

Like the pulling out, lucky you had so few people really. as for getting rid of them you could use the cloning tool as there is plenty of space all around each person. would take about half an hour or so.

but I would also step up the brightness and contrast a tad on them all too. the name plate is lovely but IMO needs a little extra saturation to get that green really shining

Thanks, I need to learn how to use cloning. Well, I need to learn how to use Photoshop really, I have boosted contrast on the lamp and the nameplate in Paintshop Pro, perhaps not far enough but I didn't want to overdo it.

Thanks for inspring me, I've never used the clone tool before. This doesn't bear close inspection, but once resized it's not bad:

(before anyone says it, yes I should have cloned the cone out as well). I'm quite impressed with the clone tool, need a lot more practice to make it not look like a BBC3 transmission stutter though.

Ha! I've been climbing there about 4 times and never knew there was a train station (that's the back of a transit-van for you!)

The black and white shots really suit the subject

I live 5 minutes from there (in the car) but I only ever visit Llangollen itself (rather than the surrounding hills) to go to the pub or take the little fella on the horsedrawn boats etc - perhaps I should make more of what is on my doorstep

the best way to learn photoshop is just to play to see what happens, if there is something specific you want to do there are free tutorials all over the place. also if you have an android there is a free app which gives you the basics of learning what photoshop can do, just search photoshop in the play shop.
