Exactly what i am trying to avoid stub

cheers chaps, no science and its sorted...... see what the K-30 retails for, then if the cost makes me laugh buy the K-5.

you are all true stars

I'm puzzled by your statement about the K-x and batteries though. What batteries are you using? I can get about 400 shots per charge on my K-x using Sanyo Eneloop rechargeables. That's almost as good as my K-5 on the Lithium-Ion original battery. Eneloops are only around £7 per set of 4 from Amazon and are worth every penny.
I get about the same. but it seems my batteries are always on charge NiMh aa

welcome ( I think you'll like it here)

as for photo's use flickr or tinypic etc and link them across. its quite simple. just remember to upload at a smaller size 800 pixels per inch i think is standard (but i use 640 x 480 ppi

pixel count is really just how big the image is, like say a passport photo is 5mp and a 10x6 inch is a 16mp. which means better resolution for enlarging ( but again dependant on the lense)

when you get to the stage you want to start PP and editing then worry about pixels per inch but until then its not worth worrying about.

But in my Honest opinion as an artist you are doing the best thing, just doing it, enjoying it and questioning what you are doing and ultimately asking others opinions on what you have done. As long as you don't mind sugestions you will carry on loving it.

As the title sugests I am looking at possibly getting a wide abgle (ANGLE can't edit the title) lense. If I don't upgrade to a K-5 or K-7 (doubt I'll be able to afford the K-30)I should have a decent amount to spend, but but as I live in the flattest part of the country where the skyline is rarely changable (every direction is flat)I do not want to spend mega money on something that might see daylight once in a while. But to have one in my bag just in case I suppose I would be looking at a budget range, but once again I am being blinded by science and baffled by bull**** in the reviews. And suprisingly could not find a thread on here about this.

Any ideas of make and price would be very welcome (no science please)
also any links to photo's you have taken with wide angle lenses would be a help too.

I am looking to upgrade this year from my K-x. Now the reason for this post is looking at reviews etc etc I am being blinded by a great deal of science. So if cash was a problem and the K-5 was at the very top limit of budget which would be the best buy the K-5 or the K-7. Would I notice a great deal of difference as an intermediate user?

Both would be better than what I have now, basically faster and they won't go through AA batteries like water in a paper bag as they have battery packs.

Thanks peeps thats very helpfull

I suppose the next question would be can I fit one of these on a monopod? (including yours jamie)

reason is I can not bend any fingers on my left hand so need something with a secure easy to manipulate grip

Does anyone use or has used them?

What are the positive/ negative aspects?

what make is best to go for?

Thinking of getting one but don't want to waste money if the consenus is they are not worth it.

Welcome, as a novice myself I would say the K-x is great, but considering I have never used anything else in the pentax range since 1986 I am a little biased. But its a cracking camera, light and easy to use, so not much science involved in thought processes. I would say that as with all camera's its all in the lense and there are some crackers out there. My favourite at the moment is my Tamron AF 70-300mm F/4-5.6 Di LD MACRO 1:2, and it didn't break the bank. Best thing is as I recently found out is if I upgrade withing the K range all lenses will fit the upgrade so another saving there(I know this sounds like a silly statement but I genuinely didn't know. last time I upgraded I had to buy everything again).

You all probably know this already; Countryfile is having another competition with the main prize of £1000 worth of camera equipment of you're choice.

From looking at the quality photo's on here with wildlife as the subject I think that someone ( No Pro's allowed sorry) would be in with a good chance. It would be great to see the winning photograph taken by a Pentax. I am not one to keep things like this to myself as I can see a great deal of tallent on here and this type of competition is worth while. (besides the copyright issues that is)

No I am not part of the BBC trying to promote this, just I was interested myself and thought that others may be interested that might not have seen the program. Anyway below is the link to the website and info for the competition with the link to the entry form.
