You only need to enter the focal length once after fitting the lens. The camera will remember the setting.

Each time you turn on the camera subsequently, you can just half-press the shutter button instead of 'OK', if you like.
hi pls forgive me for the hijack of this thread... i have the same situation too... i remembered i did permit the aperture ring for my prime lens but everytime i turn on my camera it asl me to input the focal length... is this normal or am i missing something here? tks
It's normal, it's so the camera knows how much shake reduction to apply. If you only have one manual lens the camera should remember the last setting so you don't need to confirm it every time you switch on, just go ahead and shoot.

In order for your flash to work in P-TTL mode it requires information from the lens as well as the camera, if you're using an older (manual) lens then P-TTL is unable to work; hence you need to set your flash to either manual or auto mode.

A feeble effort I'm afraid but the deadline was drawing near and my planned picture didn't happen due to unforseen circumstances.

Your built-in flash is P-TTL *only*. This means it will always emit a pre-flash for metering purposes (although it's so brief and so close to the main flash as to be all-but-undetectable to the human eye) and this can't be switched off. Therefore, any of the three slave triggers you've linked to will go off on the pre-flash and miss the main event.

The wireless trigger on the other hand should work just fine and will synchronise the remote flash to the shutter.

You would need an adapter as it is a screw mount lens.
Would it be though? If it was a screw mount then it would have the name "Takumar" on it, the word "Pentax" only appeared on lenses from the K series onwards iirc.

Can I install the Asahi Pentax 1:2 50mm lens on my K200D without an adaptor and is worth buy the lens for 50$ cad
If the lens has a bayonet mount (rather than screw) then yes you can use it on your K200D without an adapter. You'll find you'll be restricted in terms of which modes you can use the camera in (as there will be no electronic connection between camera and lens) but many of these older lenses are capable of superb results.

As for the price, $50 sounds like the higher end of the range for a f/2 50mm so I'd only pay that if it was in absolutely mint condition (preferably with box and original caps, etc). For similar money on eBay you could pick up a good sample of the f/1.7 version of the same lens which is an even better performer.

Welcome to the forum by the way.

From an image quality point of view I don't think there's anything to choose (from what I've seen of the Sigma) between them.

The Pentax though is smaller and lighter (barely bigger or heavier than the 18-55 kit with a 49mm filter size) and has quick-shift, so it's more likely to be a permanent fixture in your kit bag and there when you need it.

It also handles beautifully! I tried the Tamron 90 which was quite a bit cheaper and also about the same IQ-wise (there really is no such thing as a bad macro) but after comparing it to the Pentax the extra £100 seemed worth every single penny. I've not regretted it.

It will be interesting, I bought a MKI kit lens a while back just to sell with my K10D body when I put it on EBay one day as I figured any buyer would rather have something they can use straight away.
I confess I have wondered in the past whether cameras and lenses should be sold together or not. This should be a good test sample - auctions two weeks apart, same seller, same items, similar description, early evening mid-week start.

I can afford to drop a few quid on these two (obviously hoping I don't though!) and should be a good indicator for future sales...

I use the bundled Pentax software. Not the most intuitive I've ever come across but once I got used to it I find I rather like it.

It sounds like you've bought a right angle finder that was for the Spotmatic + K series cameras (pre 1976) which had a fractionally larger eyepiece surround. The finders for the M series onwards (1976 - current) tend to fetch quite a lot more money on eBay (£100+) which is why many of us end up using the Chinese "Seagull" right angle finders instead (around £30-40 new).

I'm sure you could probably bend and manipulate the one you have to fit with pliers and a Dremel but if it were me I'd probably re-sell it and put the money into a Seagull finder instead.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad tidings.

PS. The Seagull (and the later Pentax) uses a prism that shows you the image the "right" way up.
