Hi Donald,
Use whatever works best for you
If you're getting results out of JPG, then carry on
Picasa 3 is great for basic fixes.
Here's a quick run down of stuff I've used:
1. Bundled Pentax software - based on the Silkpix engine. Very good image quality. Limited control over RAW (but more than Picasa)
2. Capture One 4 - nice UI. Good image quality. Was bundled free with Sandisk III cards last year...
3. Silkypix DS 3 - best image quality, especially for high ISO images. Incredible control over colour. Probably best to wait a while for version 4 (which is due soon!) before buying. BUT there is a free version which gives a bit more control than the Pentax software
4. Lightroom - I quite like the GUI for Lightroom (v1). Control over exposure is excellent. But the IQ for high ISO meant I ditched it (again )
The best thing with RAW is you can use Picasa, the bundled Pentax software, or Silkypix free - if you find you've hit a "ceiling", then you can purchase something later and reprocess any wanted RAW files again
HTH!

I use the bundled Pentax software. Not the most intuitive I've ever come across but once I got used to it I find I rather like it.

Is one of the free convertors like raw therapee as good as anything ?
As of present I use Picasa 3 for jpegs and am quite happy with it.
Link is to my flickr page where everything is jpeg and done in Picasa, would I benefit from raw ?
