You would need an adapter as it is a screw mount lens.

Would it be though? If it was a screw mount then it would have the name "Takumar" on it, the word "Pentax" only appeared on lenses from the K series onwards iirc. You would need an adapter as it is a screw mount lens.

If the lens has a bayonet mount (rather than screw) then yes you can use it on your K200D without an adapter. You'll find you'll be restricted in terms of which modes you can use the camera in (as there will be no electronic connection between camera and lens) but many of these older lenses are capable of superb results. Can I install the Asahi Pentax 1:2 50mm lens on my K200D without an adaptor and is worth buy the lens for 50$ cad
As for the price, $50 sounds like the higher end of the range for a f/2 50mm so I'd only pay that if it was in absolutely mint condition (preferably with box and original caps, etc). For similar money on eBay you could pick up a good sample of the f/1.7 version of the same lens which is an even better performer.
Welcome to the forum by the way.

As far as I can tell, there was only ever an M and an A version of the 1:2 lens. The M version has the words Asahi opt. Co. Pentax on the bezel.
And of course the Takumar version. As far as I can tell, there was only ever an M and an A version of the 1:2 lens. The M version has the words Asahi opt. Co. Pentax on the bezel.
