I love macro, and I especially love that shot.

Superb.

In the interests of good photography isn't it better to vote on what you think is the best image rather than vote simply because of what brand camera was used to take the shot?
Spot on.

I thought the winning image was a bit 'meh' to be honest, a few of the others were far better IMHO.

My two and a half year old son is train mad and loved your picture (as do I)!

They go all the way round and it depends where the light from two huge glass ceiling domes falls. Hard to tell for sure, but which do you prefer, the warmer shot or the cooler shot?
I love the cooler shot. Not just the WB, but the upward angle with the pillar towering above you on the right hand side. Not to mention I think the wider angle of the lens helps, the warmer shot didn't show enough of the surroundings in (for me).

It has reminded me that I'd like to go back to the Royal Exchange again soon!

Both of the Royal Exchange shots have their own merits, John. The warm shot has a gentle warmth to it, and the cooler shot looks natural in its own way too. Based purely on comparison between these 2 images, I think I'd opt for buying the Ricoh GR.
Agreed. I had considered an MX-1 but went for the GR.

I prefer the first too, I like the grimy feel of it and think it's better exposed than the second.

Also, the more extreme angle of the second detracts from it a little.

Can nothing be mentioned if it isn't about Pentax?

I'm new here, I didn't know...

I think it's easy to take the likes of Amazon for granted at times.

Are they different parts of the building? Looks like they're two pictures of the same light fitting, albeit from different angles.

"...more bite and a certain something" describes exactly how I used to feel about shots from my K-m vs. shots from the K20d I replaced it with (in good light).
