Perhaps the thing to do is to offer them your pictures on this basis next time?

I think the answer is that the 16-50mm is the focal length of the lens, no matter what the sensor size is but the angle of view that appears on the sensor is different. This means that a lens to show the same view as a 50mm on a 35mm film camera on your K5 would be a 33mm lens.
Think of it in terms of the standard focal length lens for 35mm film being 50mm, the same coverage on a 645 camera would need an 80mm lens, the same coverage for a 6x7 would be 105mm or there abouts. The focal length of the lens remains the focal length but the amount of coverage required changes because the sensor (film or electronic gizmo)is bigger or smaller.
In terms of the view you get with the 16-50mm lens on your K5 is the same as a 24-75mm lens on a 35mm film camera.
Think I've got that right but if I'm wrong someone will be along to correct me!
Anyway good luck with the weather and don't forget with the K5 and the 16-50 you have a weather resistant camera!

I do know A lenses don't auto focus, its the typing I don't know how to do!
The A was meant to be an F but obviously the brain and fingers were thinking of something else at the time.

From all the stories I read on the forum, this is the usual experience at SRS. Any problems seem to be dealt with in a timely manner, with the customer left happy.

Was replaced in double quick time, and with much apology.
They have certainly had a few quid out of me, and I've been happy with the experience. I reckon that must make them a good shop.

Spotmatic SP No1.

Cosmetically very good. Meter is working, shutter operates fine on all speeds. Self timer fine.
There is a problem with the prism, The surface mirroring is faulty in one place. You can focus ok but the view is not what it should be.
As the rest is good it would be worth changing the prism if you know how to.
Looking for £10 + post at cost.
Next Spotmatic SP No2

Meter working, shutter operates on all speeds ok. Self timer works fine
Cosmetically very good all over except a slight dink on the top of the prism where a flash shoe has been used. If you put a flash shoe on you would not see it. Good working camera in good usable condition.
Looking £20 + postage at cost.
Pentax SV

Good cosmetically, selftimer and shutter works ok most of the time.
Sometimes shutter second curtain stops short of full travel. If you know how to fix this it would be a nice camera. If you don't it would still be nice to have on the sideboard!
There is a non-working square meter & case to go with it.
Looking £10 + postage at cost.
Located West Berks for collection.

If they are FA, F or A lenses, they work fine. (only the FA & A lenses auto focus of course)
If they are M, K lenses, they can be used in manual mode.
If they are 42mm mount they need an adaptor and can be used in manual mode.
I have even used a 37mm to 42mm and a 42 to PK adaptor and have used my Asahiflex Takumars in my K5!
Welcome to the wonderful world of Pentax, where every lens Pentax made for their SLR's can be used by the latest models.
