Is it the light levels they want to see, or the light colour, feel?

I would think the only way to do the light level is to measure, and come up with a value at different positions from the light source.

To show the difference in light colour you would need to fix the white balance not allow it to change.

To be honest, I think any pictures will modify the way the light looks. The counsellors will really need to go and see the lights for themselves.

Still the view of the mountains from the boat could be good!

Llyn Cwm Bychan.
I'll second Cwm Bychan and the Rhinogs. About 6k due west of Harlech, there's only one road and it stops at Cwm Bychan. Path called the Roman steps takes you over the Rhinog ridge.

In the mountains there are so many places but i'm afraid the train does not show the best side of Snowdon. Try Llanberis pass, Nantgwynant and the Ogwen valley(A5) Plenty of good landscape from the main roads but have a look out for some of the side roads. Better still get out and walk a bit and you can get some fantastic scenery. Cwm Idwal off the A5, easy walk into the National Nature reserve. Nant Ffrancon, where the A5 drops down towards the sea and Thomas Telford built a road through the mountains. Loads of old quarries and mines showing the industrial past. Slate Quarry museum at Llanberis is free, if you are interested in the industrial heritage.

Best get an OS map to find all these places.(google maps are a bit unreliable around North Wales).

The Sigma 8-16 arrived this morning. Lens arrived nicely packaged and in fine fettle. My world has now changed to a very wide place!

Thanks for the lens and an easy transaction Jules and I hope you will be around the forums.

Of course if you think it's a good day out it should be a Tim.

Looks like this mountain might have been a Tim, by the look of the photographs. But thats for you to decide.

Because it's a corbett we saw absolutely no one else on or around the mountain the two times we went up or close, and there was no real path to the top. 87 ft higher and it would be crawling with folk.
I decided years ago not to 'collect' Munroe's. I've been dragged up too many boring hills by my mates trying to get another tick. Conversely, some of the best days out are often on the hills not on Munroe's list.
I decided to mark by quality, rather than hight by calling them Bobs. If it is a good excursion then it gets Bobs status. When I get too old to get up'em I'm going to put all the best days in a book to be called, Doing the Bobs!
