I've gone down to 1/20th with hand held and SR and the shots were sharp - never tried 1/6th though. Seems to work well.
I surprised myself with this shot the other day - 2/3s handheld at 26mm. Absolutely fine at this sort of size.

According to this site, you'd be risking it a bit. I use a Centon FG30, which is apparently 200V, but yours shows 300V.

Better off to either buy a new (old) flash, or use radio/infra red triggers to trigger yours. Or risk it. Your call really.

The LX wasn't yours was it?
No, never owned one. I can remember looking longingly at one in a camera shop in York several years ago, but couldn't afford it at the time.

That LX must have only just turned up though, I was in Cameraworld a week or so ago and it wasn't there then. There was an MX though. Popping over there this afternoon, so I'll see what else they've got.

You want to talk about Man being responsible global warming....here's a question for you....

we digg oil out of the ground and burn it....create hydrocarbons and co2, but did we really creat anything or just move it around?
Well, we moved it from somewhere that is was harmlessly locked away (underground) into the atmosphere, where it can do damage (to our lungs and as a greenhouse gas).

suppose we never used oil and left it in the ground, and a meteor hits Saudi Arabia and ignites the oil and fills the atmosphere with WHAT?
With hydrocarbons and CO2. But that's something we can't control, we can control our own actions. It looks like you're trying to say "We might as well carry on burning the stuff, otherwise a meteor might come and burn it instead".

The oil is dinosaur remains.
Oil was made from plankton in the sea. Very small plant and animal matter. Whilst some of it was exhaling CO2, the rest of it was absorbing it.

I really don't want to get into a debate, so I'm going to leave it there, as everyone's going to have different viewpoints, and we won't be able to agree. I don't pretend to know the half of it, but I do know that on a local as well as global scale, humans seem intent on using as many resources as they can at any cost, then dumping the huge quantities of waste in the environment. That simply has to change. Simple things like never using disposable carrier bags would make a massive difference overnight. Simple things like that can change our world for the better.

Whilst this isn't a thread about climate change, seeing as Don brought it up, I thought I'd post this link.

http://royalsociety.org/page.asp?id=4761

Whilst any sane person is going to agree that the climate changes in a natural cycle, there is overwhelming evidence that the changes over the past century are at least partially down to the actions of man. I'm not going to get into a debate about it here, because I don't think this is the place for it. However, whether you agree with this viewpoint or not, surely finding more efficient, cleaner ways to live our lives is a good thing?

And as for the animal welfare issue, perhaps having something published in a code of conduct will make the less sensitive photographers at least think twice. A small hope I agree, but you never know.
