I think one covered in neoprene would be a good idea...transparent is a nice idea too.

In general I think coloured cameras are a good idea, my wife has a white K-m twin-lens kit, which actually looks very nice. Techniccolour looks a bit garish though.....

A very weird looking Kx...

Only to be sold in Tower Records in Tokyo. It looks too much like a toy for me, but I am sure some will like it. Don't know about finding matching lenses though....

What does "Crippled KAF2" mean in terms of the mount? What is crippled about it? As these are the mounts on the more modern Pentax cameras, it seems a very strange term.

I had some Olympus lenses before I switched to Pentax and wanted to keep some of the lenses. i could not find any adaptors anywhere so ended up selling the lot. You probably wont get that much on fleabay and if the gear has nostalgia value why not keep it?

The proper way to drink gin is Pink Gin. A dash of Angostura bitters mixed with the gin over ice. The bitters is highly alcoholic too but wont stop you getting malaria as tonic was always reputed to.

I must admit I quite like absinthe too, but it can be very peculiar stuff, which was probably why it was banned for so long. i certainly wouldn't touch it within a few days of having to go to work. At 80 per cent ABV in the stronger ones you get lots of bang for your buck.

I don't like beer. It's too smelly. I prefer cider, more specifically Savannah, from South Africa. Or, failing that, Thatchers, which has unfortunate side effects. The ABV is variable, depending how long it's been in the cellar. I won't go into details save to say I redocorated a friends lawn one night after a few too many.

But that's probably more information than anyone needed.

Cessna single-engine aircraft are all high-wing, which is good for photography. If you are taking pictures through the window, then the hood will not be that good for eliminating reflections, unless it's rubber and you press it against the window (in which case as Chris said, vibration will be a problem), but will help with flare. It might get in the way a bit though, as there's not much room. A piece of matte black card placed against the window, or better still matte black rubber if you can find it, can be moved around to get rid of reflections. Dark perspex works well too. The plane should have dark perspex shades for the windows which work really well for shielding reflections.

You will get better shots with the 17-70, longer focal lengths magnify the distortion of the windows, which can give weird effects like double images. the same is true of lenses with a large frontal area. A lot of aircraft windows are scratched, so find a clear spot, and take shots through different parts of the window. I find a a UV filter helps with haze, even though the windows block UV. No idea why. Polarisers can give weird colour effects through perspex, so I wouldn't bother with it. As you'll be in the front seat you will need to use live-view to avoid getting too much of the glareshield when taking photos through the windscreen. However, the front window distots light a lot. The side window will give better shots.

Take the longer lens though and try it, but I suspect you will be disappointed with the results. It might be useful up to 100mm or so though...........Shoot RAW so you can eliminate some of the haze in processing.

Here's a link to a few aerial shots have I have taken myself...

Enjoy your flight and look forward to seeing a few pics on the photo section of the website!

jon

This thread was started as criticism of Jessops, but seems to have degenerated into a discussion of the moderation of the forum.

If I were to rail against rules I didn't agree with, I wouldn't be working where I am now. But I made an informed decision when I accepted the job. Similarly, if people want to take part on this forum, which is in my experience of forums a very good one, surely they should abide by the rules, even when they personally disagree with them. It's not like the rule about other manufacturers is unreasonable: it's a Pentax forum after all. If this rule is not to be followed to the letter, where is the line drawn?

I think (and I'm not the first) it's time to put this one to bed and move on.
