Might have to start a new post on this, I was thinking along the lines of Next May on a Saturday or Sunday for a Pentax Forum Members Meet. at the Robin Hood Center, Sherwood Forest, it has a large car park, Cafeteria, and the oldest Oak tree etc. There will be things to photograph all around , free to get in, (might be a small car parking charge) Barby area if you want to bring your own barby.
Tracey and I will be going up there over the next two weeks, and we will find out more info on what's going on in the month of May.
All we need for now is : YES or NO to the venue and the time of year.:
Terry , if I am around (work takes me overseas quite a bit) then count me in. I am just down the road in Leicestershire

what size are they? (having never had the guts to try dismantling a lens with electrical contacts, I've not seen one!)
Can't remember the exact size, I have it noted somewhere. From memory approx 5mm long, 2mm diameter. They sit behind the contacts on the lens mount, are easily damaged and much easier to lose then the indent balls.

It might be even cheaper to phone www.asahiphoto.co.uk or www.harrowtechnical.co.uk (might be .com)
From previous experience not necessary, though I admit the chance element is removed.

Somewhere, I have a Super A - it had a winder failure that could not be repaired. When I can find it, I will be putting it up for sale. Everything was fine, except (as I said) the winder.

It failed 10 minutes after landing in Delhi for a 5 day whirlwind trip - fortunately the power winder was still OK and that will be up for sale too.
I might be interested. PM me, if you have a price in mind.

There are several Super 'A' in various states of repair on eBay at the moment, that I am watching.

Most lenses will contain at least one tiny ball bearing (for the aperture ring click stops) which I guarantee will make a bid for freedom by heading for the nearest carpeted area - never to be seen again.
Ahhhhhhh, that explains a LOT
You are not alone I promise you! I'm a regular customer here.

You can usually get away with packets in 1mm and 1.5mm sizes, I've yet to come across a lens that doesn't use either one or the other.
I can't remember who, but someone on the forum put me onto Simply Bearings here in the UK http://tinyurl.com/6orgs8. I can recommend them.

I quite often will hear my camera focusing on stuff when I'm carrying it, and this is when my hand presses the grip's shutter button.
This is why I keep the power switch on the grip in the off position. (unless actually shooting vertically)

Quick question though - does the switch control just the buttons and dials, or does it cut off the battery entirely? Ideally, IMHO, the battery would be live and the controls dead with the grip powered off...

But, from my observations based on usage, this is not the case... YMMV
From my experience the grip does not have to be switched on for the battery to be 'live'

Does anyone know if the focusing screen on a Program A is interchangeable with that of a Super A?

On a Super A the screen can be removed by unscrewing two tiny screws just above where the mirror damper foam is attached. With these screws removed a cradle can be lowered and the focusing screen removed.

I need to know if it is the same on the Program A? The reason is that the screen on my Super A ideally needs replacing and cheap Program A's come up a lot more often on eBay than Super A's.

Thanks - Steve

Just would like to check a Pentax foot is the same.
Another eBay link specifically mentions AFG360 and 540 and it can be screwed onto a standard tripod thread.

Will Amzon.co.Uk send such things abroad? I know they won't send a lot of stuff on the site outside the UK.
Just tried having it sent to Spain and no they wont as they class it as an electrical item
Grrr!

Maybe I'll see if Amazon.de has them. Will have to be tomorrow now though.
Gwyn, If they don't I would be quite happy to get one for you and forward on for the cost of postage to The Netherlands, postage within the UK should be free as the item is over £18.

Let me know - Steve

From my experience they can be a bit hit and miss. Working on manual mode with no pre-flash seems to work best with the K10

I will sell you mine(boxed with instructions)for £7.50 including postage and packaging.

If you are interested send me a pm

I got it to work by checking the "Run this program as an administrator" box in the properties of the PENTAX REMOTE Assistant shortcut under the Compatibility tab.
I was going to delete this post, but I figured that others might have run into the same issue.
Glad to hear you have solved the problem
