Quite informative indeed, Steve. I'd never considered there might be hurdles to cross to gain access to the nectar. Aesthetically speaking, the last shot works best for me.

Very nice, John. I like the first one in particular, with its gentle S keeping the water calm on one side, and letting it crash into chaos on the other. The last one has a beautiful abstract quality, and all four are wonderfully detailed.

I've been trying to interact (photographically speaking) with the bamboo patch down by the river. Unsatisfied with what I was getting, I figured I might put that old and rather bland Tokina 28mm on my K-01 with a 12mm extension tube (never used those yet). These are the first results from that setup - all hand-held, so as to favor a degree of unsharpness. I'll probably go back with a tripod though, and on a sunnier day...

Ah, yes, by creative pp I just mean post-processing to your taste (simple contrast/levels or OTT psychedelics - whatever rocks your boat).

Oh, I will . And I hope to see more like yours above.

I'm sure there are plenty of options! Observation, experimentation, luck, patience, and creative PP will yield strange, quirky, beautiful and otherwise interesting results. The impressionist path is certainly a worthy one to follow. I've just started experimenting extension tubes in the bamboo patch not far away...

Oh my, black holes, nebulae, (dark) dreams and nightmares, forces of nature... These are strong images, Bill, very strong indeed. A dark set, yes, but light leaps/leaks out from them all. Perhaps a few favorites (on first look): 1 for sheer power, 12 for sheer mystery, 3 for its human-ness (is there a face hidden behind those aging fingers?)...
What a powerful set!

Both fabulous images, the monochrome is wild - love the lighting, and the detail of the swirling-skirt-like spiky bits.

I very much like the second spider clump - the leaf divides the space in an interesting way, giving a sense of movement to the baby spiders. Also enjoy the raspberry dewdrop.

Looks very much like a precise Victorian watercolour illustration. Whether or not that was the inspiration for it the result is superb.
My thoughts exactly. Delicately beautiful.
