I'd like to see a pink pig, flying between the front pillars, but that's just me.

include the AA adapter as standard with the K-r
I'd agree with this one. And while I am looking forward to getting my hands on a K-r, the abscence of a top LCD panel is a bit annoying for me. I guess I'm just too used to the layout of the K100D Super.

Very nice portraits, Don. Was that the 300 or Bigma?

With the os switched off how can it use power? off is off
I don't know. Maybe I was just willing to believe whatever tripe was written on the US site to justify the cheaper lens' purchase.

think I might get a reversing ring as well
You don't need a reversing ring where you are. The beasties are big enough to use a wide-angle lens for close-ups.
By the way, what do you think of your Sig 17-70?

You guys are mind readers. Just today I was pondering how it would be possible for a lens to be a "bad copy", as so often referred to on the American equivalent of this site. With modern production methods, how can a lens of obviously inferior quality pass any quality control test? I reckon bretbysteve has worked it out. Operator error.

Its definately the OS version that I am craving.
Does the OS version use more battery power than the non-OS? I've just bought a Sigma 17-70, and I was careful to buy the first version, which is non-OS, as I'd read that on the newer Pentaxes (Pentaxii?), that OS still draws power even when switched off. That, and the fact the OS version was $150 more expensive. I find the Pentax SR works well with my Sigma. It might be a different story with a 500mm lens, however.

That's it for me. I was going to fly the Lear jet over there for the weekend to do a museum tour, but I won't bother. Think I'll catch the train to the Sydney Royal Easter Show instead.

I have a Manfrotto 190XPROB with the 486RC ballhead. It's a very good combination, but in hindsight I would have bought the 488 which has a second lock that allows a pan function. The XPROB lets you convert the upright section to horizontal at the touch of a button. Very handy for macro shots, though limited use for telephoto. A tripod will allow you to take your hand off it for five minutes....

Welcome Dougie. I have a K-r in my sights too. Happy days!
