WANTED - SIGMA 150 500

Posted 12/04/2011 - 13:19 Link
Hi

I am on the look out for a 150 500 Pentax fit Sigma lens asap so I can begin photographing birds in the Spring/Summer.
They are currently just short of 600 notes on SRS but if anyone has one that is collecting dust and in prime condition unwanted, give us a shout.

Ta!

Remember that the older model does not have OS

But the camera does...

I used a Bigma (50-500) handheld with a K10d on Sarafi in a truck full of people and had very few shots with camera shake. The SR system in camera coped pretty well.

Your right of course. But the OS in the Bigmos stabilises the image in the viewfinder. And has different settings for static and panning. I prefer to use that rather than the Pentax SR (which is excellent of course too)

Incidentally, 2nd hand people were not wanting much less than SRS. So, I plumped for that with the 3 yr guarantee

Does the OS version use more battery power than the non-OS? I've just bought a Sigma 17-70, and I was careful to buy the first version, which is non-OS, as I'd read that on the newer Pentaxes (Pentaxii?), that OS still draws power even when switched off. That, and the fact the OS version was $150 more expensive. I find the Pentax SR works well with my Sigma. It might be a different story with a 500mm lens, however.

I don't know. Maybe I was just willing to believe whatever tripe was written on the US site to justify the cheaper lens' purchase.

So is it better with the camera SR off or the OS off on the lens?
