Even after price rises the K20d is still excellent value for money. Build quality is far & above similarly priced rivals & it still leads its price range in resolution. Lens prices are high, but again, not more so than any other brand really.

I changed systems as I wanted less noise in my images as I tend to push my images alot in post process (too far most of the time) & end up increasing the noise somewhat anyway. I find the current lens lineup isn't as broad as it could be but I would not have changed solely for that fact & it's going to take alot of saving up to get the lenses I want that Pentax do not offer at present anyway.

I would not have changed to another APSC dslr from another brand, it was only the draw of the low noise characteristics that led me to the D700.

I'd still recommend Pentax to someone starting out.

I bought a more modern (althugh not current) model of the Sigma 28mm f1.8 with AF for a 2 figure sum off ebay (not a Pentax mount though)

I don't know if the optical formula is the same as yours but mine performs very well. Its colours are slightly "muddy" but it is sharp & contrasty. The f1.8 will help you focus in lower light & of course is there if you need it, although it is better stopped down slightly (as generally most lenses are) it may get the shot when an f2.8 wouldn't

I'd say it's worth around £50 so wheigh this up after getting quotes, if it doesn't seem economical you could always have a go yourself I s'pose.

The wood is a little too distracting for me.

The 1st shot shows alot of promise I think. The dark areas are a little distracting & I'd like to see the parallel lines running diagonally or horizontally through the frame but that's just my preference.

It's all very confusing for the eye, far too much going on for me. What kind of B&W conversion did you carry out ? It almost seems like one of those fake IR shots.

I don't know about "style" but she's certainly displaying individuality.
A little soft, but otherwise a nice vibrant candid.

Seems an ideal situation for the lens designers, but less so for the consumer. Bolting the 2 most expensive parts together is going to mean expense for us.

You may as well just buy several cameras of different focal lengths, at least you can swap from one to the other quickly then. The "body part is essentially a screen & a few buttons bolted on.
