it is not strictly a K5 replacement so why would the price drop, it is a lower spec and not as user friendly as the K5 with the bits that have been left off. on the other forum it says the new slim lenses to be released later will be K01 only, so don,t raise your hopes on cheap lenses either. at the end of the day Ricoh have looked at the market and decided this type of camera is where the money is and that is the bottom line

i print loading the picture into elements and then >file>print and a window opens to adjust all the settings. i have stylus photo px650 and r1800 they give 360 when i select premium semigloss paper and this is perfectly fine, they select 720 when plain paper is the option. i know when doing some prints at college for public exhibition they were all done on A3 at 300dpi and they were great. hope this helps

spend a couple of hours a week at your local college on a digital photography course, cost about £70-£90 for a term. start with beginners and carry on, you learn a lot not only the camera but also the post production, also the social side as well, a local group of like minded people.
Went down this route and start 5th term next week. kept going as you keep learning plus we have ended up as a group who can praise or criticise each other ,quite harshly sometimes, but no one takes offence as it is all part of the learning curve. also it makes you get out and use that expensive kit you have even when the doldrums set in and you can,t be bothered. you have a project to get in on time, or you have homework.
all in all i have found it a scource of learning, friendship and fun
i learnt more in the first 4 weeks (8hrs) about my camrea controls and the interaction between iso, apeture and shutter than the in the 3 months i had owned it prior to starting. put it off thinking you are going to look stupid but when you start everybody is in the same boat

i have just played with my K5 and i get the egg timer if i try to view the shot before the camera has finished writing to the card, which will take longer with lens correction or d-range in use

the best value for money and quality is the pentax DA L 55-300mm far superior to the sigma, a little bit dearer but check the classifieds forum on here could find one there
then slightly dearer again is the DA 55-300mm that comes with hood and quick shift focus which allows you to tweak focus manually when in auto focus , optics common to both models.
welcome to the forum
