A new year bump for these items

At one time the older version ,this one , seemed to be rated better than the new constant f3.5 version.

Gareth, just find the motherboard make and model then check on manufacturers site for the spec, plus look at any updates that may be available such as the bios but i doubt you will be able to use ddr3 or 4 on the board and probably not a different type of cpu as the socket would be different i suspect. it will probably mean a new board then you could end up having to tell microsoft you have changed it as they will think you are trying to use your operating system on another computer. been at the same point as you a couple of times and just built a complete new computer to carry me through a few years each time.
A walk at Frampton on Severn on Sunday
Posted in Your Photos
Thanks for comments, usually it's a pretty boring walk but the heavy clouds and position of the sun just made it so different this time plus a bit of Autumn hanging on. have always felt there was an image through that "avenue" of trees but could never see it until i looked back along it rather than just looking the way we were going. NIK Silver Efex was used to get the end result.

Came across this and felt that probably a lot of what he says is pretty accurate although some of it may be a bit simplistic but worth a watch i think if his voice doen't get to you. he shoots another doomed marque, Olympus, if you believe some of the "experts", perhaps the same ones that have predicted the death of Pentax:D:D https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vu1UagrnW4g&t=8s

Excellent shot, the horse seems to give a sense of peace to what appears about to be a raging storm.

USB connection and Windows 10
Posted in Troubleshooter
Just connected my K3ii to computer for first time since Windows did a big update . the camera did not show up yet put the card into inbuilt card reader and all ok. re installed USB3 host drivers and still the same. went into camera menu and switched to PTP from MSC . camera now shows as a device with camera icon under "This Computer" along with all my other drives and i can now transfer direct from it to computer via cable as i always have. just a heads up really in case anyone else has a problem. have no idea what either MSC or PTP stand for or what the difference is. :D:D

Good to see you back in the fold with an excellent opening set. have been in that situation along with others i suspect, losing the interest and wondering why you bother when most images sit buried on a computer. i was lucky in that a friend of mine pulled me out of it by taking me to places i would not have taken myself. the people with flash problems will be over the moon that you're back i imagine:D:D

Looking at Sigma service tarrif it would be around 110 for repair Gareth. had my 17-70 done by them for 95, it is in a lower price band than your 24-70 f2.8. it had the image stabiliser replaced and came back looking like new. was away 3 wweeks .

An old "new toy" that is , Pentax 1st DL IR converted. at our local park yesterday in the sun . 1. Turning a 720 nm filter into a 590 "Goldie" with help from NIK and PS CC. Pentax A 50mm f1.7 2. Usual Red and Blue Channel swap in PS CC, Pentax A 50mm f1.7 lens 3. Black & White processed in NIK Silver Efex . Pentax A 50mm f1.7 lens 4. Another Red/Blue Channel swap. Sigma 10-20 f4-5.6 learning my way around camera as well ,mainly finding what is not there compared to K3ii :)
