What have I done?

Help please!

The other day I set the camera, a K5, to shoot with bracketing the shot.
Ever since then back on single shot, the camera takes its time to reproduce the image on the LCD, it shows an hourglass. It never did this before. I have reset evrything back to the original setup and it still does it. How can I stop it? Many thanks.

Take the battery out and insert again? Remove SD card?

I don't normally have the instant review on, but I just tried it for you. I get the hourglass too. I am shooting RAW, and it takes a while for the photo to write to the card - which is why you get the hourglass.
It is perfectly normal. I suspect you have just not noticed it before.

Tried both of them and that didn't work. Thanks for trying.

I don't think this is normal but I could be wrong.

Have you got "lens correction " turned on (screen 1 of the record menu)? I found that this slows mine down considerably. It is not obvious if this is turned on in the menu. You have to go into "Lens correction" to see what state it is in.

If all else fails, and assuming that is not how you put the settings back, then the "Reset" function in screen 3 of the settings menu will put all the general settings back to default (but not anything changed in the customisation menus). This could be a pain if, like me, you like to have it setup with non-default settings so might be worth making a quick record of the existing settings first.

Glyn is absolutely right ... if you have Lens Correction (menu : Camera - page 1 - Lens Distortion) turned on (either Distortion or CA or both) then it will slow down the processing immensely. Switch it off and do it in PP if absolutely necessary !

Its certainly not normal, mine isn't showing a timer before it displays a picture. I'm not brave enough to repeat what you did though. What version of the software have you got?

i have just played with my K5 and i get the egg timer if i try to view the shot before the camera has finished writing to the card, which will take longer with lens correction or d-range in use

It was turned on, don't remember doing that, not unusual for me at my age, but I will have to wait until tomorrow to try it as it is dark now. Thanks very much.

Just to add to it...exactly same happened to me and turned out to be lens correction turned on for distortion and CA. As soon as i switched off it went back to normal.
