just when I was awarded the prize there are the entries flooding in
Glyn's entry I really like. Would have been even nicer with the lights turned on inside (but I appreciate that implications on climate change might have averted that).
I especially like the sky in Father Ted's entry. It certainly is more than "making up the numbers". The angle is great and all that is needed IMHO is to lift the dark parts of the spectrum with a little curve adjustment.
Haydn's entry is certainly nice but the EXIF data suggests it was taken in September 2007...

Meanwhile I'm back home and I certainly can feel that it is a lot closer to Siberia than the deepest Hampshire!
So don't be a whimp and go out getting your night shot in (he says from the comfort of the heated home...)

You probably mean: 200% left side and 200% right side.
Martin.

A tough call, though, what to submit...
I guess I have to pace out the surroundings to see which shots qualify.
Let the fun begin!

P.S.: Martin, give up on figuring out the own dancing lady. You would need at least 200% brain power for that one

Wasn't left brained the maths / physics / logical side?
I'm confused now...my whole brain hurts

loose the cast and you got yourself a stunner of a shot. And remember that we don't even know the girls... (The first (colour) version left me relatively cold)
Excellent!

The quiz comes out 65% left brained, but I had the left thumb up (i.e. right brained) (though I hold the pen like A (left brained)).
I think holding a PhD in physics would indicate right brained?
That does leave me in the middle somehow.
I suspected for a long time that I'm mainly running on the spinal cord, though. And that runs down the middle, doesn't it?

I wondered about the blueish shadows for a moment. As the sky looks right (and shows the same blue) I guess it is just the sky colour reflected in the (white) snow. And since blue is complementary to yellow it looks a bit exacerbated.
The wall behind the door looks white all right, so I guess the camera has done a good job with WB (presuming that the lamp is giving a yellowish cast that we mostly don't notice because of our very own auto white balance).
The right ground floor window looks nice, I think the pic would have benefited from the other windows being lit as well.
And perhaps one could interpret and criticize in more detail. This would be missing the point, though, I think. The picture has a homely and warm feeling to it and I think you succeeded in inviting the viewer to come closer and knock on the door.
But the train of thoughts when seeing the image first was more like this (might be the left side of the brain being quicker in starting?):
1. Blimey, that sort of house in Surrey must be worth a fortune.
2. Ah, forgot that house prices slumped dramatically in the UK (at least that's what I read on the WEB sites of English newspapers).
3. Oh and forgot that due to the credit crisis the value of the pound has gone down (even the measly Euro is worth more than ye goode olde pound now) and prices of imported goods have risen immensely.
4. So the value of the house might, after all, be just enough to cover the cost of two or three decent lenses these days...

P.S.: You have to make fun of it to keep your sanity...
