Fantastic picture, you nailed it at the right moment as it seems.

I also would crop as suggested, alternatively at least on the left you might want to darken the quite bright arm and his shirt a bit.

As for post processing, I have no hesitation to use whatever it takes to get the picture to what I saw (or imagined) when pressing the shutter. I often use black or white gradient layers with layer mode soft light to darken/brighten areas of a photo. I also do use the gamma setting in SilkyPix a lot.

Then there are the shots with the fisheye zoom. They are often crying out loud for over the top post processing.

Oh no, Aiki, you are a sinner as well

Why are people not taking Oly serious? Same reason why they don't take Pentax serious.
The big two are just spending through the nose on advertising and as they are so big it is difficult for the others to get noticed. Sony might be an exception as their marketing is quite strong.

There will always be some people looking beyond the marketing and try to objectively find out what does fit their needs best.

And in this respect you are right, Aiki, it would be very interesting to hear from Greytop how the two cameras compare.

Welcome Greytop,

you confess to your sins and therefore you will see forgiveness

Well, you probably have seen while browsing this forum that we are not Pentax fanatics (well, only inwardly :lol.

Have fun browsing the forum and if you have any questions, fire away.

Well,

I have seen it in RAW (I only shoot RAW). Only on a few occasions but I saw it. The main bother is that it is hard (if not impossible) to reproduce it...

I'm still busy working on the shots from the September trip to Hawaii. Amongst those are some close ups of plants that I thought might interest some of you.
All shot with the Sigma 105/2.8 EX DG Macro on the K20D

Amin,

for the majority of situations you are right. It's all about avoiding camera movement during exposure. The 2 sec delay will do the trick.

Cheers,

Well, Prieni, I'm sure I can see a few fish "SCALES" stuck on one of the wheels, ( very hard to spot, I know ), so I may be able to use it in a 'certain' competition
No, you can't. It was taken before the competition period started!
But apart from that with a 100% crop of the fish scales I could be convinced...
It could also be that there is a set of scales in the boot of the car?

I have worked on user pics before to demonstrate what I think could be done with them. I usually don't ask for permission but have put a note in the post saying that I'm prepared to delete if copyright owner wishes to. Never had to delete one.

I wouldn't mind people working up my pics when they only use them for demonstration in that thread. But I appreciate that others may view that differently.

You don't need to. He hasn't submitted it to the competition, yet. Seeing that PentaxKid37 is a newbie in the forum he might not know where the weekly competition resides...
(PentaxKid37: Go up on this page, find the "Gallery" button and select "Competitions". Then select the only current competition and when you hit "enter competition" you can upload your entry.)

So, now you can compete with him David!
