Your assignment for this fortnight, should you choose to accept it, is to create a photographic image (with or without post processing) based on a long exposure. For this competition anything longer than 1 s is supposed to be long. (Which also means that a 1 s exposure is too short!)

The Fortnightly Competition Rules apply.

This competition will close on the 3. February 2010 at 18:00 GMT. (Please allow ample time as the exposure time will be ...ehm... long).

This thread is reserved for the submission of entries only, a separate comments thread will be created shortly.

Good luck and good light,
Prieni

Thanks Aiki for giving my entry the top spot. I'm sure it wasn't easy. Liked Mike's stairs (fantastic construction), Dr. Mhuni' fisheye and David's spotlight best of the very good crop. Hefty produced a very good entry AND a nice paper staircase, the special prize is well deserved.

My plan A was to find an interesting staircase and get it's shadow only. But without the sun it is difficult to achieve.
Also had a plan C with the home staircase...

I better get thinking about the next theme...

Ralf,

How do you keep your stairs in such good condition :
Easy, just shoot them from below!
A tad inconvenient, I have to admit (should have done a 'making of', Prieni in limbo beneath the tripod, doing a fifth of a sit-up to look through the viewfinder).

Maybe we should let the hat go round to get Martin a cheap Pentax...

Would be great to see you participating in competitions again.
Welcome back!

Kris, that shot is great. A great photo doesn't have to be sharp.

Welcome back, Gwyn!
And see, you haven't even been demoted, still the same Pentax Pro Master as before.
Glad you came back,

Very clever, Hefty1! Did you look at Aiki's previous submissions to find out about her taste?

When I saw your shot I was immediately reminded of Aiki's curves submission...

Well done! Didn't see the first one in voting but noticed the other two (I think the third one you had shown here in the forum a while back).
I think that portraits have to be extra good to get in. The viewer has to connect to them without having a connection to the subject. And that is very hard to achieve.
But I'm always happy to see the ones that achieve this feat.
