re the 80-320 I started with it on 'A' and that's when I noticed it's lack of response - the shots were all completely overexposed and the K1ii display said F___ and I could not make any changes. I then found on the US Forums that this is a well known problem with this lens - the aperture electronics go down.
I'll ask about repair costs but it is probably not worth doing so I'll try anf get b with the 100-300 ?

At the peak of the recent SuperMoon I tried to get some shots using my K1ii with an FA 80-320.
However, no matter how I tried the shots were all way overexposed and I was unable to set the aperture to reduce exposure.
The next day I puzzled over whether I had not set the K1ii correctly but came to the conclusion it might be a lens problem ?
On checking I found reports on the 'other' forum of this being a common fault with this lens.
So last night I tried with my FA 100-300 instead. Conditions were not perfect as the moon had now started to wane a little and theer was a little hazy low cloud.
I put the K1ii into M and chose ISO 200 with f/11 and 1/180s to get sufficient underexposure.
Here are the 4 shots I captured - RAW files processed using PaintShop Pro 2022 to bring out the underexposed images.
All were cropped to a size suitable for posting before saving.
All c&c welcomed.

Don't be afraid to crop to a different shape if need be

I have had great success with Uniross hybrid rechargeables.
For the shots I took yesterday with my K50 I fitted an adaptor with 4 of these that had been sitting unused for 2 years and they were still OK.

I would say that this is also my most used lens and is the first choice when I want to travel light.
What also amazes me (SMC) is it's optical quality at full zoom !

I checked the RAW files and found the green fringing was already there, so it looks like a lens issue ?
I tried 'de-fringing' one of the images in PSE11 and this is the result (after a bit of colour correction)
